Interested to hear more about Sawyer. I don't want to derail the recruiting thread though.

The UMass Basketball Facebook page posted some photos today... one of which shows Matt Cross going up to the hoop. I could be mistaken, but there's a player seen in the background and it looks like Sawyer.

I don't think that's him. He has blond hair and the player in the background of that Cross picture has black hair, it might be Rollie or one of the managers.

TheOFFSeason is about as plugged into the program as anyone I know - if he says something about the team it's usually true so I believe Sawyer is gone. Honestly do not think its that big a deal - did not see him playing much this year so not a huge loss IMO. Yes we now do not have much height off the bench, but we do have a 7'3 guy to spell Cohen and a few 6'7 - 6'8 guys - by all accounts Cohen plays 34-35 minutes a game so hopefully he can stay out of foul trouble and Majok can give us 4-5 minutes per half.

Maybe Squire can play in January if he signs?

We are going to have zero front court depth, again. Jesus Christ. Majok is a year away from being a year away. DHS and Cohen are going to have to play 30+ every night while avoiding foul trouble.

I like the young guys but might have to focus on the long term outlook this season. I hope Mayhugh isn't gone but OFFSeason knows his shit.

Sigh

Do not underestimate Tarique Foster.

Seems to me that Mayhugh was at the bottom of the depth chart for the frontcourt and wanted immediate PT, but also, I don't know a thing.

If Mayhugh is gone, and I agree that Off-Season knows his stuff, then I'm all for trying to get Squire, just to have another body. We're down to 11 and not much height.

Let's not get too hung up on height. We've had guys like Harper, Lou, Tyrone, Gaffney, Rashaun, Lasme etc all 6-9 or under who were excellent rebounders. All about effort. Maybe they see Foster as a contributor from day 1, who knows. Injuries and foul trouble will hurt us more

^ Julius was well under 6’9” and he was a pretty good rebounder.

I wasn't fortunate enough to see Julius. I'm not as old as some of you mofos :)
