I wasn't fortunate enough to see Julius. I'm not as old as some of you mofos
They sure as hell won't let you forget that fact!

Let's not get too hung up on height. We've had guys like Harper, Lou, Tyrone, Gaffney, Rashaun, Lasme etc all 6-9 or under who were excellent rebounders. All about effort. Maybe they see Foster as a contributor from day 1, who knows. Injuries and foul trouble will hurt us more
Lou wasn't any taller than some of the guards/wings on this team.. he did ok

I was a senior when Julius was a freshman. It has been talked about before, but this was the last year that freshmen were not allowed to play on the varsity, they had to play on the Freshmen Team. You can imagine how dominant he was against other freshmen.

^ Freshmen became varsity eligible for the 72-73 season.
Rich Vogeley actually had a better freshman year than Julius.
Al Skinner and Rick Pitino played on the undefeated freshman team when Julius was a junior. We were salivating at the thought of Erving and Skinner playing together the following season, but the Virginia Squires dropped $400,000 on Julius after the 70-71 season and the rest is history.

We are going to have zero front court depth, again. Jesus Christ. Majok is a year away from being a year away. DHS and Cohen are going to have to play 30+ every night while avoiding foul trouble.
I like the young guys but might have to focus on the long term outlook this season. I hope Mayhugh isn't gone but OFFSeason knows his shit.
Sigh
Do not underestimate Tarique Foster.
Seems to me that Mayhugh was at the bottom of the depth chart for the frontcourt and wanted immediate PT, but also, I don't know a thing.
I'm very excited about Foster but I think he's a year away from being able to bang downlow on the boards and on defense.

I think he’s a wing who is going to spend more time on the perimeter than he is inside.

Abdullahi chose Princeton. A little bit of a bummer — thought he would have been a good fit (like I thought with the Cox kid.)

2024 class is a bit of a downer so far. Cox and Abdullahi would’ve been nice to get.

^ I’m glad you said, ‘so far’. Based on the way things go these days with the portal, I expect most of the activity to take place after the season.

Can't be mad at a kid for choosing an Ivy League education over UMass - by all accounts he's not going to NBA so Princeton looks pretty good on a resume

Guerengomba > Cox > Abdullahi
We got the best guy out of the 3. I would have liked Cox as well but I’m okay with not getting Abdullah. He was down to us and Princeton and he chose the education route, smart choice. We were fighting against Sam Houston State and Iona for him, not exactly the talent I’d chase after. Also you can’t blame Cox for choosing Purdue, dream school for a guy like him.
