Freddie will be huge for us next year as well as a big part of this year. I'm sure he just wants more time, but tough to have everyone on the court together at all times. He wants to be out there, and that's a good thing.

Having Javorn back will take freddies mins. You have to believe that over the next few years someone isnt going to be happy because it seems everyone on the team can play the same position. What happens if Morgan comes in and hes really good??? Freddie will get his mins, and we will need him. Lets hope everyone goes off and we beat TCU!!

I think there will be a tough split of minutes for Freddie if Morgan ends up being able to shoot lights out as well. Freddie really stepped up the offense and the D in the first game and seemed to play pretty well in limited time during the last game - but he has to realize that Gurley is playing unbelievable ball right now and is helping to lead this team to wins. Freddie's a great player, but doesn't exactly seem to be a team player. Won't be surprised to seem him transfer - he just seems to be perpetually unhappy.

Hopefully as the season goes on we see more of traynham and farrell at the point, and less of correia. I like Gary, but at this point i'd rather keep guys like freddy and javorn happy and playing instead of him.

sldrums - if Correia wasn't playing well then I'd agree but he is and he has been a good soldier for UMass and so I am happy to see him continue to get the most minutes at pg. If DT keeps developing it is likely he will be starting by February anyway.

If the coach wants a young player to get some minutes to help them develop so they are better players down the line, thats fine. However, a coach should never give out minutes to keep a player happy. The players who make the team better need to get the minutes.
I think DT is coming along in an exciting way, but there are going to be enough minutes for GC all season. Its going to be important this year to be able to take DT out of the game to allow him to settle down, watch the game flow, and be coached.

Interesting; more Farrell at point would give Freddie more minutes at SF. Riley is currently 4th in minutes played, so I don't see his problem, if he has one. However, unless Correia is playing lock down defense on a teams best 3 point shooter, and I don't think he is, I don't see what he brings to the floor playing off the ball. He is last in net positives per minute played, so it must be intangibles that are keeping him 3rd in minutes.

You think that's about the coaches?
Thanks to technology we're knowing a lot more, probably too much more, about what players are thinking. Could someone please tweet back to Freddie that he's fourth in minutes played? (I dunno, is there such a thing as tweeting back???)

Unless he thinks he is not living up to his own scoring abilities for one reason or another and it has nothing to do with minutes or anything else?

Checked the lines again, and we're favored by 3.

like the line but think umass is going to have a good day and bring the energy.. Love the fact that farrell is back and just brings so much energy to this team.. depth is a great resource we have obviously some players are not going to be happy with there minutes... this competition will help bring out the best within all our players... keeps them fighting hard for there spots on the team.. I dont care if kellog has multiple kids transfer because they are not getting the minutes the want.. playing d1 basketball is a privledge and these kids have to earn every minute that they play.. however reallyyy hope freddie stays.. kid can be a game changer at any time.

I am now going. Pumped. Head count? Hopefully we draw better than Saturday. Even 3,000 in there can make a real difference.

Freddie seems like an updated version of our ol' buddy Mike Williams. I'll never forget Bru being 'accosted' by Mikie's parents near the bar at the Marriott. They were pissed he wasn't playing more and Bruiser had to handle them for Cal. Freddie needs to be a team player or he will be more harm than good to the program. But man we could have used Mikie against Oklahoma State.
