I haven't been this excited about football since the recruiting cycle last pre season!

I'm not much of a booster and have only given sparingly in the past. I will be cutting a check (small but something) Monday.

Someone else mentioned it but Whip combined with 3 games back on campus and BC at Gillette I think there will be a great deal of interest this year. If Whip can bring back some of that exciting offense and maybe even win a couple games..... well I'm going to sleep well tonight!

When is it ok to become excited that the ink will dry on the contract and Whipple comes home? As a restructuring attorney I've seen my share of "in principle" deals bust.

Bert he's left already? And will be back for a press conference, I assume early next week?

Also, any chance he put the offensive coordinator/play calling role on his shoulders?
Hire Matt McCall!

I am 100% hoops first, but this is exciting news. I am really hoping for this program to become successful.

I am seriously thinking about season tickets (well the Amherst ones for now). There was nothing better than tailgating in Amherst in the fall then taking in a football game.

A great hire for UMass!

It was a whiskey misunderstanding here on UMASSHOOPS.com that Chris had some fun with. My (Whiskey's) fault completely.

IV even though he isn't going to be in the house tomorrow, a few We Want Whipple Chants are expected. If you can't pull it off though I won't be mad, just disappointed.

Cloud nine right now, We hit the lotto folks. It may take some time, but UMass football is in good hands. I want to say something that might piss some people off. I know a lot of UMass faithful were livid and could not understand why Brad Anderson did what he did. Without getting into details, he stepped out because it was the right thing to do with the knowledge he had. He wasn't just pissed at Molnar because he wasn't winning and wanted to sabotage his efforts.......his convictions were righteous. Anyway, IMHO this would have never occurred if he didn't do what he did, in other words, no matter how you feel about how it was done, this end result justifies the means. We could not have landed a better situation considering where the program was at.

Finally, a massive thank you to Coach Whipple. Some might not agree, but this job is slightly below where he deserves to be in the coaching world. Whip is on board for all the right reasons......:this isn't to say he won't eventually leave if things go really well for a better opportunity, but landing coach Whipple is like the high school band tuba player landing the homecoming queen........this move very well may have salvaged a program that was entering some dangerous waters.
