I hate to disparage an entire profession because of one bad actor but I'm not - CHB is no different from huge numbers of sports "journalists" who simply have no interest in facts and truth. He is far from the only one who takes shots at Calipari that are factually inaccurate. The next sports "journalist" who properly characterizes the Patriots "Spygate" saga will be the first. There are very few sports "journalists" who have any integrity as journalists and routinely use their First Amendment rights to libelously defame the targets of their "reporting".

Bertrand mentioned a possibility of a UM/UK game. To that end, Malone asked Kellogg about it today...
@Daniel_Malone
Kellogg on getting Calipari and Kentucky to #UMass for a game: "There are really no plans at this time for that happening."
DK: "I'm not sure that Cal would want to do something like that on a day where one of us would have to win & one of us would have to lose."
"But I'm sure somebody other than me will probably propose that game or try to get him to buy into it at some point."
No surprise there.

Cal did not come to Camby's number retirement. He was on video and gave a prerecorded speech.
I mixed up my events. You're correct that Cal did the video recording for Camby's number retirement. I was thinking about Camby's UMass HOF induction ceremony in 2010. The September timing on that made it easier for all to attend.

I would have thought that members here would have been more concerned about what he said regarding the current football program instead of his opinion regarding someone who walked on us almost 20 years ago. :?

Ignore him, ignore him, ignore him. I have not and will not read what Dan the jerk wrote and I have not read one of his columns in over ten years. He is a jerk and wants to piss us all off. Silence is the best response for his trolling. If I won a big lottery I'd buy the Globe and shut it down.

There is not a big enough lottery to buy out John Henry.

I didn't listen. But I'm sure Shank simply talked around the facts and tried make it seem like Bertrand was bullying him.

You sure you didn't listen?

Shank basically stuck to the "Michigan took their banners down, why doesn't UMass do the same." Also refused to admit Cal had any positive monetary effect on the state of Massachusettes during his tenure, which is just ridiculous.

Ridiculous is putting it mildly. Cal's teams routinely sold out Mullins, Springfield, Worcester, and Boston. That drove economic impact to those venues and surrounding area businesses.

Sold Out has rarely been in the same sentence with UMass since then.

I live too far west to the 98.5 signal and so I never listen to that station unles I'm in the Boston area. And I was on the road all morning so I couldn't listen from my office. I'm hoping they upload the audio. But I have heard Shank's interviews in the past after inflammatory columns and that his MO. He takes a passive approach and lets listeners think he is being bullied.

Just listened to the segment, and it was pretty fun. DS stuck to his guns, but Beetle hit all the right points. Well done!

The only thing I wish he had done was call DS and the Globe out for not writing about other Northeast programs that have had problems over the years (e.g., Syracuse, UCon).
