Also, from what I've read/seen from Bruce, he seems to say he's from Dorchester, not Wakefield.

His Twitter used to say "Dorchester, MA/Acworth, GA" (His mother lives in Georgia). Doesn't say that any more.

But seen a couple brief interviews, he says he's from Boston or Dorchester.

Also, this was from August--summer break...

Game at 730 at the Reggie be there!!!
That's the Reggie Lewis Center...in Dorchester. He obviously plays for BABC which uses that too but he clearly spends a lot of time there.

Just informational. How it pertains to anything else, I've got no opinion on that. None of us really has any idea, probably shouldn't be speculating on something such as that.

#1) You get 5 official visits, not 4.

#2) He has visited UMass unofficially at least three times so far this year. Using simple math that's better than one visit to a place like Indiana or Xavier or Purdue or Miami.

#3) The term "official visit" means that the school can pay for travel expenses and certain entertainment expenses when the prospective student athlete is on the visit. That's all. It's not more important than an unofficial visit.

#4) Brown attends school and lives maybe an hour or two away from UMass, he doesn't need to take an official visit because he can basically come whenever he wants.

Because it has the word "official" in it people tend to view it as more important. It's not necessarily. A lot of kids do use the OVs to sort of decide their top schools, yes, but if you've been following Brown/UMass at all you'll know that the Minutemen are firmly in the picture. UMass happens to be very close to where he lives, thus he doesn't need the school to pay travel expenses to visit like he would for all these other ones.

And on top of all of that, he could STILL take an OV to UMass as his last visit if he really wanted to, because he has one more to use.

Some of you guys are dolts. Bruce Brown is from Dorchester. When he played for Wakefield High it was a part of the Metco program to get inner city kids with promise to suburban high schools.

Dolts, huh? Maybe they were just mistaken. Maybe they hadn't read the Matt Christopher book on Bruce Brown yet like you apparently have.

Indiana interview with Alex Popp, Bruce's coach. He mentions the 4 official visits and says that UMass "is still hanging around", so i guess we're still in his top 5, sort of. He also talks about Bruce's skills, etc.

Don't much like the sound of that (worse when you hear how he says it).

Directed at the folks who claimed that he grew up in "hardly the mean streets" of suburban Wakefield, thus saying his Mom should have no issue with the "crowd" he hangs with at home being close to him to UMass. Its a real thing for a lot of these kids.

Back the truck up internet soldier, I was asking a simple question based on the information that HE has included in his online bio. https://twitter.com/brucebrown11

Don't think Bruce has any control over what his ESPN bio might say...that's not "his".

ESPN will create those using whatever info they have available when someone becomes a prospect. At the time Bruce was probably playing at Wakefield High, thus the bio says Wakefield.

ESPN is also hardly the pinnacle of correct information when it comes to recruiting. But I digress...

He's from Dorchester.

^While it is his ESPN Bio, he chose to include it as his Twitter background, hence my question. Apparently I need to do an extensive background check next time, lest I anger the mob here...
