If Bruce hasn't got his mind made up by now, that suggests to me that his first choice is Indiana, and he's waiting to see (and maybe so is Indiana) what happens with the other blue chip guard they're waiting on (as discussed earlier in this thread). The other guy has a ton of top offers and said from the beginning he wouldn't commit until spring. So now if you're DK do you sign up someone else, or do you wait till spring to see if some other top recruit chooses Indiana over North Carolina etc, and then Brown selects us over Xavier, Purdue, whatever. Or...do you seek a commitment from someone else who will commit now?

I'd wait. Brown is a potential game-changer, similar to Jarreau. You have to wait on a guy like that. If he commits to UMass, it would be one of our best classes ever. We'd have a legitimate shot to make a final four/elite eight run when Brown, Jarreau, and others are juniors/seniors. Can't pass up a chance like that.

With Pipkins not qualifying and essentially being in that Class of 2016 now, I wouldn't be surprised to see DK hold on to the scholarship for the Class of 2017 if we miss out on Bruce.

Zach Lewis will also be eligible in 2016 which gives us 12 scholarship players. It's worth holding the scholarship for Bruce. We can get by with the 2016 roster even if we don't sign anyone else.

Maybe Tom Crean being on thin ice has Bruce's attention... or he genuinely just isn't read to make his decision yet.

Knowing that he is now going to wait, I wonder what would leave a worse impression on him, Crean being fired or UMass being awful this year? Probably would depend on who IU hires to replace Crean.

As others have posted I would fully assume that it's Brown or nothing with the last 2016 scholarship.. So we will wait until next year if he wants with that scholly.. Already have a great class if you can't get a stud hold it for 2017

IU is a top 25 team this year and likely sweet 16 and possible final four pick with Yogi Ferrell back. He could be waiting to see how the season goes to decide. If IU is looking good, he might feel more confident in picking them. If they start off bad, could mean doom for Crean and maybe he goes elsewhere.

IU remains in on a couple remaining high level recruits. Bruce might not have a spot by spring. That's why I'm not sure IU is the biggest competition for him.
