Also, I was just looking at the box score and saw Sean Carter had 1 shot. DK has to try to get him more involved in the offense next year if we are going to be succcessful.

URI might want to win this game, which looks like they have 0 shot of, if they want to keep any hope for a tourny bid alive. I mean Houston just took a bid and that will most likely screw URI and there's a chance more of that is to come... (for instance if NC St. continues to win/play well, also unlikely...ILL is more likely...)

So we probably won't be hearing from you then right? You haven't had much good to say about the team this year, no? Just sayin'

Great effort...Richmond was too hot from 3 for us to overcome...I still dont get whey we cant defend the threes, it was a problem all year.

Ricky Harris...I wish we had 5 of him. The guy is classy, keeps his mouth shut, and plays. Hope he continues playing somewhere.

I thought DK coached well at the end of this season. You can tell he loves this job.
Pierce9999, once again, my goal is to become as great a fan as you are of UMass sports. Until then, I will minimize my time on the board. I mean if I can't live up to your lofty expectations, what good am I as a fan?

As for this season, they had a lot of nice freshmmen grow up, they played well in the last game of the season to get into the tournament, and they won the first tournament game in 8 years. That is good stuff, and hopefully they will continue to improve next year. I don't think any of us, mainly DK, need another 20 loss season.

They had to play freshman a ton of minutes if you look back to our NIT teams with freeman and lasme and then Forbes and brower, Freshman didnt play anywhere near the minutes they had to this year. think this team is on the right track because these freshman have now had a year to learn alot playing so much and have a better idea of what to expect next year. Also 2 transfers that logged alot of minutes who hadnt played that much previously. Its a new team and now they have a year under their belt they lose ricky but that means someone will have to step up next year and be a leader and hopefully this team will have a true point guard.

It was nice to see some of the other players pay tribute to Ricky on Facebook after the game and this morning.

Lots of positives to look forward to... another off season is here.

ktabz16 wrote:this game was the exact same thing as almost every game we played this season. we fell behind early and made a run to make the socre respectable. it happened at least 10 times this season. to me we made little progress this season, we picked off a few slumping opponents but didn't improve much. individuals showed sporatic spurts of improvement followed by long periods of decline. the team never improved organizationally on offense or defense for the entire year.

it's been two years and we haven't learned how to defend even a basic screen. it's quite pathetic.

maybe the negativos are staying away because they realize the reality of the situation while the sunshiners cling to any tiny shred of evidence that their misguided faith will be rewarded in the next 3 years.

Then stay the f#*k away, nobody needs fans who think the program owes them something. If you can't see anything good to take from the season, you know less about college basketball than I thought....and that is incredible.

It was good to see Richmond make it to the A10 final, better than seeing Xavier again.

6500 posts and you have found a tune that you're comfortable whistling and repeating a LOT. I doubt Chris will have too much trouble "responding" to your posts in the coming years because I believe the team will get better and, unlike some here, you'll have less and less to piss and moan about. Team will get better, coach will make better decisions and one of two things will happen. Either you'll jump on the bandwagon and continue your prolific posting or you'll slink off into the sunset and won't be missed.

Just my opinion.

I don't know what some of you are talking about, i saw a LOT of progess this year. If any of you went to the Dowling game at the begining of the season, you'll remember how horrible we looked, we only won by 2!! If we played them now, it'd be at least a 15 point W.

The freshman were all studs in high school, they're not used to losing, and i think they'll put in the work over the summer to be much better next fall. Especially now that they've solidified their roles a little more.

It's tough to see progess when you watch every game and the progress is slow. But if we had a BEFORE and AFTER shot of this team, for this season, (including the coaching) I think the difference would be substantial.

It's tough that my personal umass career as a student is ending without and NCAA bid, but hey, now I get to join all you geezers as an alum and bitch and moan on this board for the next 60 years. Can't wait!

See you next year in Section U.
Shovel, I just got the general admission season ticket package this year. It's nice and cheap and with our crowds you can sit anywhere you want. I'll upgrade when we get good again (hopefully sooner than later). I never have actually met you, I'll have to swing by during one game next season.
