^^^ The grass is always greener. Key words there are NIT Finalist. Our athletes "who can't shoot" have taken the program higher than anytime in 15 years. Problem now is, can we get enough players who are both athletes AND can shoot because it doesn't appear our coaching staff will be able to coach up a team built primarily of athletes "who can't shoot" into a truly cohesive unit. Short of some kind of miraculous coaching growth in future years, taking our recruiting up to the "athlete who can shoot" level is the only path I see toward rising above NCAA first round exits every 5-6 years. Here's some more "quotation marks" for good measure.

Second half shooting woes in that game and they gave up 50+ but it was a great game none the less. Chris Lowe especially had a horrible shooting night but he sure would look good on this year's version of UMass hoops.

I sat next to an OSU fan and tried to be cordial during the first half. He proceeded to tell me "we don't rebuild, we relaod." I wanted to pull his red sweater vest over his head and give the smarmy fu*k a good ol' fashioned Terry O'Reilly beating.

They lost but I enjoyed the MSG NIT final more than the NCAA first round beat down last year, just saying.

^ I'm with you on that one. I really enjoyed the MSG experience. If I remember correctly, Ricky Harris went crazy from 3 to keep us in the game. OSU just had too much size. I had the pleasure of driving down with the Athol contingent. That was a fun time.

During the Duq game today they put the camera on Sampson Carter in the stands for a bit and I'm pretty sure I spotted McLean sitting two seats over from him.

I wish it would stop snowing one of these days so we could get a decent crowd in there when these recruits come for a visit. It sucks having so many empty seats when you want to give them the impression of a rising program. Hopefully they understand.

The way the schedule fell this season absolutely sucked. Of our first nine games, we did NOT HAVE ONE WEEKEND GAME in Amherst prior to fall finals (not counting a Friday night game). Of our next nine game, five were home - during finals or intersession. Scheduling fail.

In addition, no real name teams, save Dayton, came to Amherst. Nobody will be attending Wednesday games against St. Joe's and Richmond. And Fordham is a terrible draw for our last weekend game of the year.

That doesn't even call into account the snowiest winter in creation.

Hopefully our schedule-makers realize next year that it's not worth it to have zero weekend games in the fall semester and not a good idea to have a ton of home games when the students are gone.

Not sure the ole U has much say in the league schedule, or the teams we play since they're in the league

Scheduling can be difficult since we play in the same arena as our hockey team.

If we win even one of our next two, we'll get 6K+ for both St Joes and Richmond. Fordham sold out last year on a weekend and could again this year if we keep winning. Most of the stuff you're upset about has nothing to do with our athletic department. The A10 sets the conference slate. We played VCU last year, so naturally we were going to play them at their place this year. Same reason we got Dayton at home. We got a home weekend game vs Rhody. The only weird/frustrating thing about this year is that we have to go to GW for the second straight year. That's very frustrating, but probably has to do with Davidson joining the league and everything getting a bit rearranged. Hopefully we'll get them at the Bill the next two years.

Spellman just committed to Villanova.

It looks like we have finally offered Unique, along with 2 of his AAU teammates (class of 2017).

Unique McLean, a class of 2016 SG playing for the PSA Cardinals (NY), will be on an unofficial visit to UMass today.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

This kid has been at UMass a lot. Have to like our chances to land him as it stands right now. He's got a lot of raw athleticism and talent.
