It was meant as a kind of continuation. Sorry if I've offended the guy who went on social media to complain about people complaining on social media.InnervisionsUMASS wrote:Did you really just point to your own post as if it was someone else's?

Before we get all giddy over this, has anyone looked at his contract for the buyout language? Do we know for sure that the buyout would only be base salary? Somehow, I don't think so, but I haven't seen the contract.

Nope, no offense taken... just looked very similar to something we've seen in the past here. Carry on...

Your concern is valid. I haven't looked at the contract or had anyone in the know confirm it, but I suspect that yes, we would only have to cover the base salary component. That's what happened with the WBB and Hockey coach last year.69MG wrote:Before we get all giddy over this, has anyone looked at his contract for the buyout language? Re: 1/29/17 poll - Fire DK?
If I was Bamford and I was doing Kellogg's review after the 2016-17 season I would grade him on 3 things:
Recruiting season: A+
Out of Conference season: B+
A10 Season: C- (but grade incomplete like Daniel Simpson Day's until after tournament)
Based on this assessment I would bring DK back for the 17-18 campaign. Give him this summer to work things out knowing he is on the hot seat. It is like a player in the NBA on a "contract year" before free agency they always have their best season. We need to give this team, this coach and the Champions Center it self another year to show what it can produce. My advice is to enjoy the next 9 games and at least one at the A10 tourney and think of them as the appetizer to the main course which will be brought out next October. Drink heavily too!
UM Hoops: [as Jarreau walks in on the town meeting that determines Coach Kellogg's fate] What can I do for you, Deeky?
DJ: I got something to say.
UM Hoops: All right, say what you've gotta say
DJ: [to crowd] I don't know if it'll make any change, but I figured it's time for me to commit to stay at UMass
UM Hoops: [as crowd is cheering, points to DK] I told you, once we got rid of him!
DJ: But, there's just one thing... I play, Coach stays. He goes, I go.
UM Hoops: [crowd starts murmuring] Uhhh, the coach is dismissed by a vote of 68 to 45...
MikeUMA: I think we should vote again!
UM Hoops: All those in favor of the coach staying, say 'Aye'
[majority of crowd says 'Aye']
UM Hoops: , all opposed...
[a handful say 'nay', tears up Sign Man's tally sheet]
UM Hoops: ...Coach stays!
Recruiting season: A+
Out of Conference season: B+
A10 Season: C- (but grade incomplete like Daniel Simpson Day's until after tournament)

Also, I'm willing to lose the entire roster if that's what it takes to get a new coach. I am 100% convinced Kellogg will never be the answer, it doesn't matter what players he has.
Re: 1/29/17 poll - Fire DK?
So far, I think the recruiting class is showing some signs of weakness. It's still got a lot of potential, but the freshmen are really struggling. The OOC slate was extremely weak, straight B at best, maybe B-. Not sure how you can possibly give the A10 conference season anything above a D.CapeCodBruiser wrote:If I was Bamford and I was doing Kellogg's review after the 2016-17 season I would grade him on 3 things:

Comparing DK to a lunatic who implemented a rule of passing 4 times before taking a shot is probably the most accurate comparison this board has ever seen.
Re: 1/29/17 poll - Fire DK?
It's pretty much a given that the NOLAs will leave if/when Kellogg leaves. But it's worth it. Kellogg's gonna get canned this year or next. Those guys will leave either way. But we have a much better team to offer a new coach if Kellogg leaves this year.

Re: 1/29/17 poll - Fire DK?
^ If that's true I'd love to know what it is about him that gets their loyalty. I'm legit curious here. What is it about DK that would keep a very talented and sought after recruit remain so loyal to a coach who is (IMO) going to hurt his chances of an NBA career (which if things continue like this, he will).

^^
Len - Why is it a given? I mean, I actually think they will bolt should he get canned this year (not necessarily next year)... but why is it a given?
