Re: Game 12, 2016 Hawaii
The problem for Whip is that Morris left the cupboard pretty bare and his inadequate replacement did not do much to improve the situation. So Whip came in having to do a major rebuilding job. With what he brings in for new recruits he should do a lot better next year especially without the punishing schedule.

I'm in it for the long haul. Next year can be great with a little more discipline and a new DC.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

Let’s hope with age comes discipline and maybe a kicking game?
Re: Game 12, 2016 Hawaii
Next year: A pretty damned good returning offense. More depth on defense, especially with the redshirts coming out of what appears to be a good recruiting class. A much more sensible schedule. And all home games on campus. Only then can we pass rational judgment on this endeavor.
Re: Game 12, 2016 Hawaii
Looking forward to next year. Knew this year would be tough with so many young players. At times this team exceeded my expectations. Then disappointed as well, like the Tulane game, but overall came out better than expected. Looking forward to next year and all games being on campus. Or is there a game in Fenway?
Be proud of the present and look to the future.

Hey, I can't resist. You want to see some restaurant-quality futility?
<-- This school to your left
Record: 3-105 (1990-2000)
Since then, Oberlin has managed to win at least one game every season, including three years at 5-5, until 2016, when the Yeomen slid back to 0-10.
And John Heisman coached football there for three years in the 1890s.
AND Oberlin is the last in-state school to beat THE Ohio State University. That was October 8, 1921, yo.

Updating after this weekend ... likely will be 9-of-12 opponents in bowls:Dickie Dunn wrote:Worth noting: Hawaii technically could become "bowl-eligible" with a win Saturday night. Though they would only be 6-7, according to NCAA guidelines they would get the nod over any five-win teams if there were not enough teams to fill all of the bowl spots.
Our schedule this season:
BOWL-ELIGIBLE
Florida (8-2)
Troy (8-2)
Louisiana Tech (8-3)
Old Dominion (8-3)
Brigham Young (7-4)
South Carolina (6-5)
COULD BECOME ELIGIBLE
Boston College (5-6, vs. Wake Forest this weekend)
Hawaii (5-7)
NOT LIKELY ELIGIBLE
(*Not going to go through everything and see how their APRs would break down if they get into the pool of five win teams)
Florida International (4-7, vs. ODU)
Mississippi State (4-7, vs. Ole Miss)
INELIGIBLE
Tulane (3-8)
Wagner (FCS)
BOWL-ELIGIBLE
Florida (9-2)
Troy (9-2)
Old Dominion (9-3)
Louisiana Tech (8-4)
Brigham Young (8-4)
South Carolina (6-6)
Boston College (6-6)
MOST LIKELY SELECTED
Hawaii (6-7 ... but among first in line with Army for any spot after all bowl-eligible teams have been slotted -- right now, there are only 74 teams for 80 spots)
Mississippi State (5-7 ... they are the No. 2 ranked team in APR among 5-7 teams; as long as no more than 79 teams are otherwise eligible -- not likely -- they will be offered a bid)
INELIGIBLE
Tulane (4-8)
Florida International (4-8)
Wagner (FCS)
I wrote this ... it's gotta be true.
