All sorts of rumors as to why it happened. I think it's the most obvious one: his wife got off the plane for the press conference, said it's too damn cold, and told him to choose between her or UMass. He had to make a choice on the day of the press conference, and that's why it went down the way it did. If it was for any other reason, we wouldn't have gotten to the literal seconds before the scheduled press conference.

^ I think he would have lasted longer, now that there is an official NIL system 😁

Or, maybe just a BIT more than a “shred of truth.” That doesn’t mean he’s not a douche. As they say, two things can be true.

Any new info on why he bailed? MAC Championship tied at 74 between two sub-par teams, both of whom could beat us handily. I have nothing else to talk about at this point, only what could have been.

Alternative discussion, just as pointless, but just as relevant: why didn't we go after Pitino when he was at Iona?

I had heard multiple rumors that Bamford reached out at one point, but nothing that was ever really corroborated, so who knows?

Pitino is a big time coach, one of the very best to EVER do it. Why would he come coach a middling A10 team? He was using Iona as a springboard to vault himself back to the top. Rick Pitino is very savvy and one hell of a coach.

His off the court antics would get a regular coach banished from the game. That tells you how good he still is.
