Hoping someone's hard at work planning a "meet the coaching staff" reception at Gillette. Beer, wine and excitement for 2014.

I suspect he'll find some talented kids who would be solid back-ups at BCS schools looking for immediate playing time.
Adrian Zullo was from Florida.

So was Jeremy Cain, Steve Baylark and many more. Whip has always recruited Florida long before he was at Miami. Bringing Cassano back on staff drives home that commitment as well - he recruited there for us under Whip the last go round, went down to become recruiting coordinator at FIU after he left and also coached with Whip at Miami

This hire has taken a situation that was bleak and contentious to something that will rally all.

John McCutcheon will get more plusses from this than anything that he has done since he came. Congrats to him and all of the people responsible for bringing hope back to this program!

We need to email the AD and give him some credit. Also we need to let him know that we expect 50,000 for the BC game and they should be doing everything in their power/marketing/promo to make it happen. Huge opportunity!

Season tickets should go on sale with the announcement. Also, it should be ridiculously easy to join the 100 yard club or the Grid Iron Club (whatever it's called). Like, go on to umassathletics.com, enter your credit card and you're in easy. People are gonna be pumped about this and UMass should make it really easy for them to give their money.

We struggle selling out the Mullins Center (9k+) for a Top 20 basketball team. I'd like to see 50k for the BC game, but lets not get our hopes up, even with a coach vanmeter can support and rally around.

I'm with IV here on the BC game attendance. Let's aim for 30k, and if it goes beyond that we'll be happy. Don't start with the 50-60K talk which isn't all that realistic and then we'll be disappointed when it comes up shy. Hate to say it but Aug. 30th isn't really the best date for that game. Many folks still on "summer vacation" .

35K would be nice...but 15 or more will be BC fans. I'll be thrilled if we can stay competitive. The 30th is Labor Day weekend and I might be on the Cape, so I'd definitely drive up for it. Just hope we can keep it competitive.

IV,

The Whipple hire was great. The Molnar hire terrible.

17696 posts - little substance.

Ummmm, ok? Where have I stated that the Whipple hire is a bad hire? As a matter of fact, I've stated it is the right hire. I wish they hired him 2 years ago. As another matter of fact, I wish they moved up years ago and he never left.

That doesn't change that your thin skin is the only reason why Molnar was a terrible hire. You and your wallet got your wish, please move the fuck on.

I was pleased to write a letter on Whipples behalf. I heard that they had hundreds of letters written on his behalf.

17698 posts little substance.

That was a solid, hugely substantive response to my post. I'm glad we both agree that Whipple is the right hire.

I'm also pleased that you can count. Beyond that, you've got some really serious issues.

I think it's TIE!! Both of the last two posts scored a 7 on the Scoville Substance Meter! This is going down to the wire!

FYI, the Scoville is a scale of 1 - 10,000
