The players were the ones pushing the most to play this fall on social media. What's not fair is that Bell is paid over 600k a year for this mess...ZooMass84 wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 5:50 pmHopefully those games fell through and I hate to say this (I'm a Minuteman Club member): drop football. I thought we at least had a few games against other independents scheduled when the school announced football was coming back. Did those games fall through, or am I just imagining them being scheduled in the first place?

Now I’m seeing why FSU was not sad to see this guy go.
Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
41-0...it could have been worse. hoping for improvement in the next game. whenever it is.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
I agree with your Bamford analysis but look at the seasons: 1-11 three times, 2-10, etc. We all love UMass football but is this fair to kids who play their hearts out to get blown out of every damn game against (let's be serious) the bottom of the barrel G5 teams? I'll say this again: Whipple was a serious college coach is knew what the f he was doing and he was shown the door. Bamford hired pretty bicep boy who is so damn in over his head and the record reflects it. FIRE BELL AND NO MORE GAMES UNTIL A SEROUS EXPERIENCED HC IS HIRED. We're paying 600k for a HC to get blown out of every game??!!dennisdent wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 6:02 pm No reason to even be talking about dropping football. This is because of bad hires. Bamford likes pretty boys like himself (some leaders do that) and he is scared of hiring another outside the box type coach like a Whip.

Well, 41 to 0 is the final. Unwatchable O play, D played well in spots but gave up some big plays.
If HC is an offensive genius, did not see it today.

please, no more games until Bell is gone. This is embarrassing.m626t wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 6:11 pm 41-0...it could have been worse. hoping for improvement in the next game. whenever it is.

totally agree............hopefully 1) this was the only game this year 2) Bell is fired or shut down this "program". How in God's name does hockey play for the National Championship with 3 coaches and we have no less than 30 coaches and a total embarrassment.dennisdent wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 6:04 pmThe players were the ones pushing the most to play this fall on social media. I agree Molnar was a disaster, but that was long enough ago that we should have been able to turn the corner by now. To use your hockey example of # of coaches, its more who the coaches are. I liked Whip, but felt like recruiting wasn't his favorite thing to do, but he could coach offense. Don't know the dynamics between him and Bamford, but I always thought if they could get a strong defensive coordinator to go with Whip, we could turn the corner. Money issue? Who knows, but its visible we've regressed since. But always feel UMass has to have a football programZooMass84 wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 5:45 pmI can answer that: we hired a pitiful excuse for a HC (Molnar) who didn't have a clue what he was doing and that basically killed the program. This has been a succession of piss poor seasons and outside of 2017, we should have dropped football. The AD McCutcheon was on his way out the door and when he heard Molnar say "I'm the OC at Notre Dame" our fate was sealed.Floyd wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 5:39 pm Trying to stay positive but this is tough to watch
Look worse than last year, which was pretty bad. What happened to UMass football? Seriously, how did we get to this point?

Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
Definitely not a money issue: guarantee our football payroll is more than Georgia Southern or any other regional school we have playing. We're a flagship state university, not Central or Western Michigan or Southern Illinois. I feel abused watching us get our asses kicked week after week by schools most people haven't heard of.Floyd wrote: Sat Oct 17, 2020 6:35 pmI agree Molnar was a disaster, but that was long enough ago that we should have been able to turn the corner by now. Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
Actually I think our payroll is pretty much at the bottom of FBS
Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
If you're really interested, here's the rundown on the Georgia Southern payroll. https://www.savannahnow.com/sports/2019 ... get-raises
Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
Our total athletic budget is something like 50M and around 80% funded by the University (allocated $$$$). We're pretty much grouped with other flagship state universities and we can't compete with these regional colleges like Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Western Michigan, etc. Who has even heard of these schools? Enough: call it a day, fire Bell or stop this bullshit football debacle.

Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
Stats are out and they are really bad of course: 191 total yards and the top two leading rushers were the QBs! 80 yards passing! GSU gave up 369 to that FCS power Campbell! Bell is a joke, but we all know that already....

Re: Game 1A: Georgia Southern
Georgia Southern total athletic budget = 29M vs our 50M. What's wrong with this picture?
