Gazette articles following yesterday's opener. The first link is the game write-up, the second is more about team building during McCall's tenure. A little something for the "we need more local recruits" folks.

Great to get the first W under the belt so soon, and in mostly dominating fashion save for a couple slides in the first half. I'm not going to try to draw any long term conclusions from this game, it's way too early for any of that. With so much going on and so many new pieces to the puzzle, it's going to take some time. Just my initial thoughts.
Garcia was great. Kolton did a lot of things that don't show up in the box score. Like in the first half when he kept an offensive rebound alive with some hustle and the ball found Tre for an easy and-1. He also played some pretty good defense. I missed the first 8 minutes of the second half, but it seems as though that's when DeGray shined a little bit judging by this game thread. TBH, he looked a little sluggish in my eyes in the first half. Could have been nerves, could have been a lack of conditioning considering where the team has been at the past 3 weeks, so it's not a concern, I just thought he was dragging his feet a lot. But good to see he was able to contribute. What everyone said about DD I thought as well. He struggled the most out of anyone who played. Cairo didn't get enough run to be able to analyze. I will say, even though everyone (but Dibaji) played yesterday, Preston still has a major role on this team, and it'll be great when he's back (trying to be optimistic). His energy was sorely missed at the beginning of the game, which is why maybe Kolton started, to bring a little bit of fire. Excited for Sunday, and hopefully some more games to be scheduled in December.

Flowsports did our FB games last year. For BB most of the time it was/is ESPN +. There are a couple of games on NBCSPORTS OR CBSSPORTS.thecaptain wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 2:29 amive seen espn+ everywhereUpstate10 wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 2:18 am UMass Athletics email said Sunday’s game will be on ESPN+ but everything else I’ve seen says it’s flosports. Givony from DraftExpress released his top 100 prospects for the 2021 draft yesterday and Tre Mitchell was not listed.TheChamp wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 9:11 pmchlaur1 wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:23 pminthescoop wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 2:48 pm I really hope this squad all stays together until Tre Mitchell's senior year at the very least, no doubt in my mind this will be a Top 25 team.
No doubt ....in fact at this pace if Tre stays through senior year he is a potential top 10 pick .... Did you see how he moved his feet switching out on a guard
There is absolutely 0% chance Tre is ever a top 10 pick in today's NBA. Great college player, but he does not have the pure athleticism that the NBA looks for in their 5s and 4s these days. Maybe 2 decades ago. He's a late 1st rounder at best but probably a 2nd. And that's no knock on him whatsoever.
I mean look at the kid Garza from Iowa. Best player in the country and they're not even sure he's going to be drafted.
As of this moment, Tre is not on the NBA's radar.

I agree with everything except what you said about DeGray...I thought he was a beast the first 4-5 minutes...kinda disappeared after that. He had 4 rebounds and I bet 3 of those were in the first 2-3 minutes of the game and I think they were all on the offensive side.natwam2547 wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:24 am Great to get the first W under the belt so soon, and in mostly dominating fashion save for a couple slides in the first half. I think DD and Cairo will be end of the bench developmental guys. I also agree Preston can play a big role on this team along with Dibaji
Re: Games 1 & 2, 2020-2021 Northeastern (12/11 & 12/13)
How about Frank the Tank , Grant Williams, Boris Diaw, Dario Saric , etc ..... I would submit that after 2 more years refining his game and his body and he could easily be a lottery pick ....Not Trigger wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 10:17 pm All I know about Tre's future NBA potential is that during his freshman year he totally outplayed the number 8 pick in this year's draft. The sign of a great player is the ability to put up quiet numbers. Those were a pretty quiet 31 and 11. If you're looking for an NBA comp I would submit Danilo Gallinari.

I would bet my non existent house he is a 1st round pick by the time things are said and done and so will Garza .... Tre is actually a stronger prospect then Garza because of his ability to move his feet when switching onto a guard & his ability to pass out of the post and score at all 3 levelsUMass1927 wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:59 amGivony from DraftExpress released his top 100 prospects for the 2021 draft yesterday and Tre Mitchell was not listed.TheChamp wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 9:11 pmchlaur1 wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:23 pm

Our schedule on ESPN does not list ESPN+ haha and Flosports has it on their schedule. According to this, Sunday's game is in NU's Cabot Center (cage), where NU women play, not Matthews. And yes Matthews is a cold place to play without spectators.

That would be the 30 team NBA......this list would populate a 3 round NBA draft with 10 leftover......and the NBA draft is 2 rounds......60 picks......40 leftover......UMass1927 wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 8:59 amGivony from DraftExpress released his top 100 prospects for the 2021 draft yesterday and Tre Mitchell was not listed.TheChamp wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 9:11 pmchlaur1 wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 7:23 pm

You would be warming Matthews and watching hockey practice while we are playing in Cabot Cage. Lolcapezona wrote: Sat Dec 12, 2020 10:22 amI'd be glad to show up and warm the place up.DoctorJ wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 10:13 pm https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/12/1 ... sketball/
