We turned the ball over too much, we had 14 turnovers in the game. I have to watch the tape, but I don't know how great our ball movement was.
"I don't how great our ball movement was" ... come on man, really? Were you even at the game? You can't identify that in real time and communicate it to your players? That quote from McCall sounds so defeated, to not even have a sense of what ball movement was like. Give me a break.

I still believe in these players, but clearly they're not getting the in-game coaching, adjustments, direction that they need.
To be fair, he was probably talking about the passes per possession stat which he uses quite often.

Why doesn't he use points allowed per possession?

Allow season and/or career highs to the opposition.

I guess we won’t win another game this season. May as well wait to relieve McCall to end of season. Disheartening! Rock bottom. Cupcake , Tomato can. No energy. Poor shooting. Poor defense. Poor recruiting. Poor Coaching. No reason UMass shouldn’t be competitive in most any league ! This is a disaster

Oof, the Ray Wilson years. Those were something.

Did you see what the Collegian put together about him?

Fair point. If you have to focus on one thing, it's our swiss cheese defense. Even with our struggles down the stretch, we're still 3rd in the league in PPG. Our defense is the shocking outlier: 5 full points per game below #13 La Salle, 6 points below 6-21 Duquesne in 12th.

Maybe, but I think if he was referring to a statistic, he would get that from somebody that tracks it. He referenced having to watch tape to see how their ball movement was, which to me indicates that he didn't have a good sense of it in real time. If you can only evaluate and make adjustments the day after, you're not going to do a great job on game day.

I suspect that we will be pleasantly surprised with how hard the team plays for him for the two (or more) remaining games.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

I know you're kidding but I wonder if Ryan even shows up at all at tomorrow night's game. It's already going to be super awkward to see how the coaching plays out, you don't need to see the executioner sitting on the opposite sideline.

I bet he stays away.

Awkward doesn't begin to describe tomorrow's game. It's senior night and the last home game for them and the coach. I can't wait!!!

I gotta say I don’t understand making the announcement at this point. It’s unfair to the players to finish their season with this being the only thing focused on. I hope there’s some kind of strategy from Bamford otherwise I hate it.
