Who? I asked that question point blank and got no answer?

Who did Umass get because of NIL? Who did Umass retain (as in not transfer out) because of NIL?
Eldon, The Collective would have to answer that question. I hope Patrick does give us some clarification.
Retain 2023
- Cross

Get 2023
- Cohen
- Curry

Retain 2024
- Curry
- Diggins
- Ndjigue
- Hankins-Sanford

Get 2024

- Doumbia

We try to answer every question we can, if we miss any its not intentional, this forum can take some crazy tangents and be hard to keep track of. Please be aware though there are some things we cant discuss publicly as it wouldn't be appropriate.

Hope to see all in next weeks member meeting.

Thank you

Did Davis not have an NIL w/ The Collective?

He had a very minor deal with the Mass Co that was terminated when he entered the portal. Similarly, Josh Cohens deal was terminated when he entered the portal.

It’s helpful to see this kind of breakdown. Gives a modest glimpse into ROI. Were Gapare, Dominguez, Fernandes, Keon, Luis, Leveque, or TJ ever on contract? If so, were attempts made to retain any of these? Or, did the collective decide to pass on offering contracts?

Gapare - On contract his freshman year, was our first signing. Contract was terminated when entered portal.
Dominguez - On an very minor deal, we communicated we could do more the following year but he was not a good fit at UMass and we were never involved in serious talks before he entered portal.
Fernandez - On a minor deal, he was out the door before the season was over, no chance to retain, mind was made up.
Keon - Had some appearances with us last year, we communicated before entering portal but was not a good fit at UMass.
Luis - Well documented on this one. He signed a 100k 2 year deal with us and then ghosted and left. Our total exposure was $1,000.
Wildens - Left after portal closed due to grad transfer loophole (which no longer exists). Someone got in his ear and he got an offer he couldnt turn down, and even if we had a chance to match it wouldn't of been able to.
TJ - Never on a deal, don't think it would of mattered.

Thank you. This is the kind of information that is helpful to know, even as I have been negative, seeking attention, and argumentative for asking.

I won’t quibble over what “not a good fit” might mean, but it seems we have a decidedly mixed bag on securing and retention, which I suppose is the norm in the NIL era. I absolutely hate what NIL and portal has done to hoops, but I understand the collective operates within that system. As such, it will be interesting to see how the metrics continue to evolve and how we measure success.

Thanks.

Well this is news to me. I liked Noah a lot and thought he had a similar love for UMass. There had been rumors that he was checked out once he got injured, and this just about confirms those rumors. "Out the door before the season was over", I don't love that.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to keep picking at that scab but, this statement is rich considering the person that made it.

It's amazing to me that some actually keep playing into his antics. This thread is a perfect representation of this poster... lots of emotion mixed in with some valid points. Surprisingly, only one "Fuck you" thrown in. Usually, this diatribe is made up of nothing more than swearing and emotional content.

I'll get blasted here for my location tag or some other irrelevant point. So while I generally agree with the overall intent of his comments, more specifically around the overall approach the NIL has taken here, it all gets lost in the painful rehashing of insults and criticisms.. It seems that some of you are starting to catch on to his game, while others seem to be giving him the benefit of the doubt that he actually cares and I do think that he somewhat does. Otherwise, why spend any time at all on this board or responding to folks. But I also think that this board winds his clock when he can engage in some meaningless debate and spout off whatever comes to mind without a filter... It's always fun to be a critic when you are not held accountable for the outcomes... Also fun when you can hide behind the veil of "lack of transparency", leveraging half truth beliefs and understanding, pointing at someone else stating that they are the ones speaking in half truths, and then blasting away at the outcomes. Willful ignorance can be fun when you don't show up to meetings yet publicly accuse people of not being transparent.

I'm violating my own better judgement with this post for sure. And maybe that is the point here. Despite whatever valid points may have been made, they are all lost due to the overall tone and delivery of the person making the post.

Are you finished? That was a lot of words going in multiple directions. You and I have gone around before (both here and PM) but it seems important to you to keep it going. You mentioned something about people starting to catch on?

Btw, I don’t “show up to meetings” because I am not a member. If I was, I would. And the open portion of meetings either don’t work or I have something else going on. And my point to the collective (which he clearly better understands than you) is greater public transparency is a good incentive to join and contribute. Nobody is being “accused” of anything. More importantly, what’s “rich” is “Mr. Shithole Country” commenting on “tone.”

All good man.

I did buy season tix again and have five for each game. My offer still stands, I'd love to meet you in person. Not for any nefarious reasons. Honestly, just to take in the measure of the man. The Missouri game would be a good one for us. Honestly, a chance to really get to know each other and perhaps bury the axe so to speak.

You are an intriguing person to me for sure.
