#UMass is getting $1.5 million from South Carolina. There's also a home-and-home basketball series set with South Carolina beginning in 2016

With that home-and-home basketball series, it starts at South Carolina in 2016 before returning to Amherst in 2017.

17-16 last year and #93 in the top 144 for this year. Still it's good to get a home-and-home with an SEC opponent.

They showed some signs of improvement under Martin last year, so hopefully they continue to do so and can be a marquee opponent by the time they come to Amherst. Getting a home-and-home with a P5 team is huge, hope this plays into more FB scheduling agreements going forward. Might be bigger programs that are willing to do a home-and-home in basketball in exchange for a buy game in FB.

Just early speculation, but I could see this as the Springfield game in 2017. SEC opponent, OOC so early schedule. If we are both up and coming, promising teams, it would make sense. Too bad the casino won't be open yet.

Frank Martin is making South Carolina more and more dangerous every season, let's hope that P.J Dozier goes straight to the NBA after 1 season instead of having to guard him in a few years. Excited about this series though, glad we set this up - props to the UMass AD.

Looking at the comments in the 20015-2016 thread, it seems a lot of us are kind of looking beyond this year and into 2016-2017. If Hines and Holloway (big "if") turn out to be good players, I really like our roster with or without Brown. With so many new faces it may take them a while to gel, but the upside is huge. We can play big if we move Clark to the 2, we can play small with Clark at the 3. If we get Brown we have the best depth I can remember at almost every position. One caveat --- we have not seen most of these guys play D1 basketball so it's really speculation, but I love the potential.

Bigs: Hines, Holloway, Gresham, Baldwin

SF/Wing: Coleman, Berger (maybe Clark if he isn't the SG)

SG: Lewis, McLean (maybe Clark)

PG: Jarreau, Pipkins, Anderson

Gotta give DK some credit here. This is the best single recruiting class UMass has had in a really long time - only history can only prove if it is the best ever, but it could be argued on paper right now it is definitely one of their best.

Throw in Lewis and Pipkins (and fingers crossed Brown) and --- Holy Shit what a new look next year - 6 or 7 new guys - all of whom should be able to contribute pretty quickly if not immediately. Umass goes from scraping together 10 guys to an 11 or 12 deep rotation????


This is kind of like "What would you do if you won the lottery" .... the possibilities are endless...


All I can say is C'Mon DK - figure out this whole coaching thing this year man!
