this isn't surprising but I don't think i'm the only one who knows he's not ready. he has plenty of potential but he seemed to disappear in games far too often. if i'm an nba gm i don't take a chance on this kid with a top 5 pick. how do you want a kid on your team who didn't want to be his team's go to guy in COLLEGE. the talent is there, but as we all know, it takes a lot more than talent alone to make it in the nba.

I agree, but I guarantee he goes top 5, because all these NBA gm's are obsessed with potential and this kid has plenty of it.

Most kids who leave early for the NBA these days are not fully formed. Thats the chance GMs take. It's the norm now, not the exception.

I think it's interesting that a lot of people said the same about Charlie Villaneuva before last year's draft, but he had a heckuva rookie season.

While I am inclined to agree with the critics, I would have to seriously consider Gay in the lotto if I were a GM.

I agree Gay will go in the top ten. Some draft sites have him going #1 overall. That I just cannot see. Maybe I would take a chance on an uderachieving 7'0 footer at #1 but not a small forward.
Most othere site have him in the top 5 or 10. Someone will take him high on potential. If I was drafting a (freshman) underclassman SF I would want him to have done something like Carmelo did for the 'Cuse'.
Gay could be a great pro, an average pro or a total bust. There are few sure things in this draft so he will go very high.

thaks for the corection Chris20.

Gay was sophomore this year...but your point still works....he didn't step up the way you'd like to see.

i think he'll be a boom or bust guy. If his head/heart catch up to his skills, he could be a perennial all-star. Otherwise, he be a colossal bust. I'd be surprised if it was something in between.

played good. A lock for all-rookie team, and will probably be 2nd in Rookie of Year voting.

Its probably as good a year as any to come out with the new NBA age restrictions locking 18 & 19 year old kids from competing against him.

Good riddance Gay.... Good player, who I feel made the right decision in going in this case. Nice to see Uconn players leaving, to bad we don't get to play them next year, I'd love a chance at revenge.

Scored 48 in a game this year. Never saw that one coming.
