- Atlantic 10 First Team as a sophomore, junior, and senior. Third Team as a freshman. (McCoy was first Minuteman to be named to A-10 First Team.)
- Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Year in 1988-89, and also part of the A-10 Freshman Team.
- Near the top of the Atlantic 10 scoring list each year: third as a freshman, fourth as a sophomore, third as a junior, seventh as a senior.
- Member of the A-10 Tournament's All-Championship Team as a sophomore and senior.
- A-10 Player of the Week five times (3x junior, 2x sophomore). Freshman of the Week four times in 1988-89.
- Started 121 out of 126 games played. 121 games started is UMass record.*
- Scored in double-figures in 116 games.
- Career high game: 35 points versus St. Joseph's on 3/4/1989.

- Holds UMass freshman records for most points scored (555), and most free throws made (134).*
- Holds UMass freshman and sophomore records for most field goals (193 Fr, 239 So).*
- Scoring average went down during his senior year, as UM's balanced attack propelled them to the NCAA Sweet 16.
- As much as he scored, took only 57 3-point shots during his final three seasons.
- Inducted into the UMass Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002.
- Named to the 1990s All-Decade team during the 100 Seasons of UMass Basketball celebration.
- Earned his degree in 1997.
