Game 9, 2024-25: Central CT (12/4)

Post by MikeUMA » Sun Dec 01, 2024 11:17 am

Getting this started early. UM hosts CCSU for their first weeknight game in a month, 7 PM on Wednesday. NESN+ will have it on TV, ESPN+ will pick up the stream.

CCSU plays today at home against UMass Lowell (our game #10). True sickos can watch it on NEC Front Row, whatever that is, at 1 PM.

CCSU put a scare into Providence in the season opener, 59-55, and gave Billy Lange another bad loss, 73-67 in Philly. Since then they've built a 3-3 record. CCSU was picked to finish tied for first (with Wagner) in the NEC this season.

CCSU beat Lowell 69-67. The game was at CCSU. Lowell was behind most of the game but took a 1 point lead with 4:33 to go. CCSU then ran off 6 straight points to put the game away.

Haven't checked out CCSU but it looks like they have balanced scoring with 7 players averaging between 6 and 13 points. Player 8 doesn't score much but gets 5 boards a game in 19 minutes. That's pretty much the rotation.

We're 229 in the NET and CCSU is 204. Let's take on that underdog mentality.

No offense Juice, but that is a very sad statement. Not because you said it, but because it is true.

someone once said "you are what your record says you are" ...or something like that.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

No offense taken. Frank's recent pressers have bemoaned the mindset of this group. We currently stink and something needs to change. If it's pretending that we're an underdog to CCSU at home to give our guys some kind of an edge, then so be it.

wow, the buzz for tonight's game is palpable...

Given the total apathy for UMass athletics these days, and a forecast for snow tonight, it might just be me and the band at the game. I might ask them if I can sit in and play a couple tunes.

UMass by 4 in another uninspiring struggle.

Juice, maybe you could join the PA table for a spell, the music booth, do a little concessions, and take a seat next to Frank on the bench for a bit too. A full game experience!!

I'll be in my chair next to the fireplace having a beer watching the snow fall while I watch on ESPN+. My guess is about 800 actually in attendance

Enjoy the beer, Floyd. I just got off the horn with our ever-present AD Ryan Bamford and he's got me penciled in for a little bit of everything tonight.

For real though, let's get a W tonight.

I must be nuts, but I will be there as usual. Both of their starting guards are 6'0. I assume they're quick as you don't see many slow 6-foot guards. Surprisingly, they are not the best 3-point shooters on the team.

Vegas continues to forget that we don't have Cohen and Cross scoring for us anymore.
Fixed it for you.
