Re: Ryan Bamford Fired?
I am by no means a Bamford fanboy, but I think at this juncture with our transition into the MAC it would be foolish to release him. I think he deserves the opportunity to see how things pan out at this point in our program.
This mentality is we suck. Bamford is the biggest problem we have ...

Sure, but why does Ryan get to hire his successor?Quann wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 10:14 am Don won 6 games in 3 seasons. He should have been let go 2 games ago. This is FBS football, you don’t get results, you get fired.

Re: 2024-25 Season
This team is going to be really enjoyable and I think it'll be the most connected group we've had in a while. Cohen didn't defend well and won't be terribly missed. Cross will be but there's a lot of good pieces and depth here and they'll play really good defense. I think they can win 20+ like last ...

Re: 2023-2024 Reasonable expectations
slow start with this OOC schedule? we knew to get fat early - I expect to be 7-0 going into West Virginia - maybe one blip but anything less than 6-1 will be dissapointing
7-0
It's also fairly conceivable we open 7-0 and still aren't very good. You really won't face a clear top 150 ...

Re: 2023-2024 Reasonable expectations
20-10 or 10-20. Hard to say which. Culture and fit are everything. Schedule is favorable so if they get hot early they could shock people. If they stumble out of the gate I think it's gonna be a long year. The talent is there, but it will hinge on how long it takes Cohen and Curry to get acclimated ...

One of the greatest people ever. Such a tragic loss. Ran legendary youth hoops programs for the three decades after that staff was let go and impacted thousands of kids in the area.

Re: Coach Frank Martin
Just watched the latest Just Being Frank, and enjoyed it much. I think I'm coming around on the lovable lunatic. You can see that he cares about his players. Will set aside concerns about his methods for now, and hope the team can have success, and stay to grow significantly.
I don't care ...

Re: Coach Frank Martin
I think this podcast has been an attempt by Frank at getting UMass fan to know Frank the person a bit better. I'm not sure that's landing how he had hoped.
I think you're right and I also think it raises an interesting question about the manner in which fans "get to know" a coach. The truth is ...

Re: Coach Frank Martin
^^^^
Spot on. I've got zero problems with his sideline demeanor when he's screaming and yelling, I actually like it. It was his lack of accountability toward the end of the season and his griping that the fans were being too negative that irked me.
Bingo. And anyone who is trying to turn this ...

Did we offer Dingle?
If he want's to be here, we would make room.
Actually, the A10 would be a great choice for a kid like him. He'd crush it here and level up the average competition he's playing against without worrying about a potential drop off in numbers.
With all due respect, this is ...

Re: State/Future of the Program
For the first time I am not donating but giving my money to the Collective. Why should we pay for a free country club membership for Martin and Bamford. Screw that, I want my money to go to the players directly and better their young lives and hopefully the programs.
My thoughts exactly. I was ...

Re: Return of Derek Kellogg
Creighton is like the anti-UMass -- the luckiest, or 2nd luckiest, college basketball program around. Dana Altman, who's from Nebraska, stayed there forever. Then Greg McDermott, who was about to get run out of his HM job in Ames, IA, took over. In his 4th year there, Creighton somehow lands in ...

Re: State/Future of the Program
I'm far less concerned about who we've lost than about the fact that we haven't yet gained anyone in return. This is how it's going to be for the foreseeable future so if you can't continually bring in new talent and win basketball games you're in trouble as a coach. Frank doesn't have to like it ...
