Sure, but why does Ryan get to hire his successor?Quann wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2024 10:14 am Don won 6 games in 3 seasons. He should have been let go 2 games ago. This is FBS football, you don’t get results, you get fired.

Re: Don Brown
Hard to argue that ... The current state of affairs seems to me like a roster problem and that is 100% on the GM. Maybe the players a were laying down on Monty... we will know that in pretty short order I would guess, but this roster on the whole is too old and too slow. I also think they are a little pissed at the Swayman as well.PintOGuinness wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 1:42 pmNot for nothing, but in Monty's first year, the B's were the most talented team with the deepest roster and the best record in the NHL........and shat the bed in the first round of the playoffs. Thats not on the GM, thats on the coach.

Well, I guess the undercard between me and TruBlu has been called off. Can't wait to see how this clusterfuck plays out. What in the world has happened to the UMass I knew?

I don't why I feel a need to do this, but I am far from a football hater. I was on the sidelines in Chattanooga when the team won in 98. I am also a huge supporter of UMass in general. So, characterize me as you will. But the opportunity to upgrade was taken FAR too late. And once it was undertaken, it has failed miserably in every measurable way. It is not reactionary to say that to keep arguing sunk costs, long-term impact, etc (although each somewhat valid) is just another excuse to set money on fire and buy us another year at the top of the "Worst Football Programs in America" lists.eldonabe wrote: Wed Nov 20, 2024 12:11 pmVOR is a long time poster here. What is the actual NIL $ number for football in 2025? $36K total does not sound right.m626t wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 11:58 am just came across this ... another point of view

"Low six figures" last off-season. You'd think it would be a lot more than that based on how the collective founder acts on Twitter.Quann wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 12:04 pmWhat is the actual NIL $ number for football in 2025? $36K total does not sound right.m626t wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 11:58 am just came across this ... another point of view

The way UMass treated Don on the way out still bothers me. This school means (I hope it's still 'means' as opposed to 'meant') a lot to him and his family, and I'd like to think he means a lot to UMass.Quann wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 12:01 pm ...Back to Don, I wish him nothing but the best in his post UMass days. I think back to the feud between Yogi Berra and George Steinbrenner. After everything he'd accomplished as/for the Yankees, "The Boss" fired him 16 games into the season after promising him the full year. George didn't even have the 'nads to fire him in person. He had Clyde King do it.
He vowed that as long as George owned the team, he would not set foot in Yankee Stadium...and he didn't. Yogi said on 60 Minutes that he never stopped rooting for the them but he kept his word. It wasn't until George went the Yogi Berra museum to apologize 14 years later that the feud the all was forgiven.
I'm hoping that Don Brown never stops rooting for UMass, but Ryan Bamford or Javier Reyes owe him an apology.

I agree with you. He was convinced to leave a good position at Arizona to come here and rebuild from scratch with a nearly impossible schedule. He never had a say in building the schedule like many coaches do, plus he didn't get to face many reoccurring opponents, which helps for scouting.LS71 wrote: Thu Nov 21, 2024 1:11 pmThe way UMass treated Don on the way out still bothers me. I feel like they made him captain of the life raft and kicked him off right before being rescued by the MAC. Not a good look.
