Ed Nelson is the product of one of those classic manipulative fathers who lives out his failed jock dreams through the son. His mother told a newspaper a few years back about Ed and his dad playing hoops in the driveway, and Ed's dad was trying to "toughen him up" by beating on him. His mother said ...

Every offseason we hear that one of our starters is going to be sent to the bench by a newcomer. This year it's Chris Lowe.

Something to think about:

UMass made 358 FGs in A10 conference play this season. That puts them ahead of only St. Louis, St. Joe's, and Richmond.

However, Chris Lowe led the ...

Second to Coach K. :)
And there was this guy named Wooden I seem to remember was pretty good.

Rupp won 4 titles and 879 games, btw. He was an evil old bastard but that would seem to put him above Hey Knight.

Larry Brown is the only coach to win both a college and professional championship, and the job he did at KU in 1988 is still the greatest coaching performance I've ever seen.

Bobby Knight is second to none in pure coaching ability.

"On Jan. 6, 1993, Knight, then 52, became the youngest coach to reach 600 victories when the Hoosiers defeated Iowa, 75-67. Later that season, Indiana won its unprecedented 19th Big Ten championship, the 11th under Knight. That team went 17 ...

Outstanding, and a reflection of his hard work.

Sorry to see that Lasme didn't make the second-team, though.

Just curious, does anybody know Tom Brennan's career record?

Re: Chem

I was told by one of the Admin staff that when Ford arrived in Amherst he met with each player individually and was shocked to found out that most didnt room with each other and they didnt consider themselves friends. He set out to change that immediately

I'm shocked by this as well. During ...

IU would never take a Kentucky guy as head coach. There is bad blood down there. You're just as likely to see Byron Larkin as AD at Cincy or Bo Schembechler supporting Ohio State. They take things personally there in a way that we, people who advocated hiring Tom Moore, just don't understand.

Some schools are "destination" programs for coaches, and some are always going to be waystations and springboards. What separates all the springboard schools is the ability to choose the right "next guy." I think the school that has shown the most prowess in this area is Xavier. Since Gillen, they ...
