Re: Where Have You Seen UMass play?

Why would I be mad? More like envious...I would have liked to have been at the games described in Bags' post that I was unable to attend.

Probably just a typo, but his last name is E rving.

Erving of course!!
I forgot football.
Attended most of the home games at McGuirk.
Got to see Greg ...

Re: 2026 Season

Is there a count somewhere of how many players have left the program from last season, for whatever reason?

Re: 2025 Playoff and Bowl talk

It is rare for me to to pay attention through an entire football game, but last night was a compelling game to watch. Did get tired of the multiple shoutouts to JMU and the frustration of knowing that we were evenly matched for many seasons back in the day. Their administration has done what it ...

Re: Atlantic 10 Fifty Year Celebration

From the 'what might have been' category. UMass was the first ESPN game on Monday, the day after Jimmy Valvano's spectacular "Don't give up" speech. I was thinking how cool it would have been to be the first to "pass the hat" during a timeout while chanting "Jimmy V.....Don't give up". Or even just ...

Re: Atlantic 10 Fifty Year Celebration

I've seen the video many times and I'm still not sure if Chaney said "kiss" instead of "kick".

Re: What will it take in 2026?

I want a defensive back who is fast enough to chase down a receiver who catches a twelve-yard pass over the middle on his way to a 40+ yard gain. Or better yet, a defensive back who breaks up said tweive-yard pass over the middle.

Like scoop, I knew nothing about this flying the flag tradition until ten minutes ago.

Is this for all sports? Would Briana Scurry have done a bunch of flag flying back in the day?

Re: McGuirk Upgrade

An odd mish mash of improvements. The overhead views show no light stanchions, but they show up in the ground-level views. If you are hiding the (unverified from my point of view) crumbling concrete underbelly of the stands with white panels, why not put up some solar panels to show the commitment ...

Re: Game 12, 2025: Bowling Green (11/25)

Sadly, we are about seven months away from the start of the major league quadball season.

But until then we can support our men's hoops team to winning the MAC tournament and a likely
7 seed in the ncaa tournament.
The women hoopsters could make some decent noise.

Re: Game 12, 2025: Bowling Green (11/25)

Hope there is enough security when we storm the field and tear down the goalposts. Hopefully we don't forfeit the game when we storm the field when we score a touchdown on our opening possession and tear down the goalposts.

Re: Game 12, 2025: Bowling Green (11/25)

I'm trying to decide whether it is a faithful conclusion or a fateful conclusion.
I'm going with fateful. Mainly because UMass athletics has been known to have been doooomed on several occasions over the years.

Interesting observation about the fidgeting. My first recollection of Ryan goes back to when UMass hockey won the National Championship and the team went to Boston for the victory celebration. I believe it was the woman lieutenant governor and the male governor speaking at a couple of venues. It ...

Two problems. Their heads are too big for any football helmets and their bodies are too fragile for the mandated body padding. Trust me. I know. I have been among them.
