Listen I completely understand what all of you are saying about posting rumors. But here is the thing, I KNEW that it happened. I had very reliable sources, and if I did not know that it happened, then I never would have made the post to begin with.

I wasn't out to start a shit storm. This thing happened with Wiggins, and I knew that it did, so I figured that I would share it with you.

I think he will go to University of Bridgeport, a D2 team in his home state. Call it a hunch.

I dont care where Wiggins will go. He will probably get booted from that team, at first you could think he was a kid who just had a rough patch, that is over. This bro is someone who has had numerous chances and does not care. He is a loser, and I know a lot of you feel that way. It is amazing how some of these hoodrats behave after being handed a free education, and its like that is not enough. What is his deal with the BnE is he stealing a lot or just drunk and wandering? He is a loser in my book. Good Riddance and I will see you at Mcdonalds.

I hope he turns his life around and I actually wish him well. He obviously has some serious issues and didn't respond to the chances DK gave to him.

You know, DK is a kid from a rough town and didn't have as much talent as Doug but Derek did well. I don't blame Derek for giving Wiggins a chance. Sometimes all a kid needs is someone to believe in them but other times their demons dominate their lives.

Doug isn't the first guy we gave a chance to that didn't live up to the opportunity our University of Mass bestowed on them. That Briggs guy was a major disappointment and probably helped to seal Lappas's exit. Hopefully we don't have another one of those guys for a while because UMass is too great an institution to deserve such conduct.

I think we need to look at this as a good thing, if we can. At least it didn't happen mid season. Then we would be really thin and GC would be at BU(ck).

GC and DG get an opportunity now to show their commitment to teamwork and dedication. I would rather have them represent UMass.

Even though I am disappointed with Wiggins, I don't want to brand a kid a loser. We don't know the details of his life. The kid needs help. Hopefully he gets it.

You still need to ask yourself... are you the only one that knew? If not, why hadn't it been reported by the normal media? If they did know, but hadn't reported it, there's got to be a reason. Other than start a shit-storm, what good will come from posting this information on the most active UMass Hoops forum on the internet? Posting that kind of information just to prove that you had the inside scoop seems pretty self-serving to me. Just my opinion.

I like getting the inside scoop, and UMasshoops.com often comes through in that way. If we had heard that Wiggins was dismissed without Shanman's prior report, we'd all be speculating all kinds of shit about what might have happened.

I guess I value privacy over scoops when it comes to legal problems.

Look, it is simple. This is an internet message board. Rumors are posted all the time. If you want to post one, go ahead. You just need to keep in mind that some people don't like that. Some might go to extreme lengths to "punish" you for posting it (say, I don't know, like getting you fired from your job). Just be aware of that is all I am saying. You never know who is reading this that may not like what you have to say.

Best of luck.

You haven't been around long enough to know what I am implying... just take what I said as it is.

Actually, it's Mike's internet message board, and he makes the rules.

OK, you've convinced me. Because it's you, and because you use italics, we should all defer to your journalistic skills.

You're still not getting it. Look at it from someone else's perspective besides your own:
"Who is ShanMan45?"
To anybody else, you're just some guy with ~100 relatively anonymous posts on a message board. You're not exactly Mr. Credible, just because you claim you had reliable sources and you KNEW that it happened.

Matt Vautour of the Gazette didn't write about this.
Ron Chimelis of the Republican didn't write about this.
They put their credibility on the line every time they publish something.
You don't even sign your name with your posts, and how would we know if it was real anyway?
Do you see what I'm getting at?

Also, if those two guys didn't choose to put out an article about this alleged incident, maybe there's a good reason for that.

Now, in your defense, you may very well know some people in the program. You may have been given the details of what really happened. You may be right. It's clear to everyone now that Wiggins must have done SOMETHING wrong. But if no one's willing to go on the record with a real journalist, or even if they want to be "an un-named source within Athletics", maybe you should keep it off the Internet too.

Thanks len, I was just about to respond to that.

IV: please don't assume the position of Administrator around here. I don't want to act like King Shit, but in this case I will pull rank.

I think I've made myself pretty clear regarding this whole thing with Wiggins' latest incident. Reconsider what you're about to post if:
- You're not going to name names (reveal your sources).
- An established journalist hasn't published anything about it.
- You're not willing to state who you really are / how you know this.
- What you're claiming could get anyone/anything into hot water.

I loathe with all my passion the "I heard" kind of posts. It's not okay to post unsubstantiated rumors about someone/something if you don't have the goods to back it up.
