Game 26: @ GW

Post by Uman » Thu Jan 28, 2010 8:36 pm

For those attending the GW game, there is a pre-game reception at McFadden's. Pretty good deal if you are an alumni member: $13 for a ticket and food. Only $18 for ticket and food for non-alumni members. I have helped set this up the past few times, and we always had a good turnout. It would be nice to meet some other DC alumni that are interested in getting together to watch UMass games as well.

Hopefully we take care of business against St. Joe's and can then put up another road win here. For those of you that would like to see some snow this winter, DC has plenty of it.

Uman, how many people do you expect? Where are the tickets? Can we buy them at the reception, or do we need to RSVP?

This should be a pretty competitive game. GW is 3-7 in the A-14, having just beaten up on Fordham today. We'll either be 4-7 or 3-8 tomorrow evening, hopefully 4-7.

GW is underated by many. They are a tough team to play in their gym.

Ren - Not sure if you can buy them at the reception or not. I would have to talk to someone at the alumni office tomorrow to know for sure. I am just a local alum who tries to get this organized every time we play GW. I also do not know how many tickets have been purchased until tomorrow. Two years ago we sold out of the 50 tickets and I would say it was probably around 75+ UMass fans there. There were a lot more than that if you include families of the players. I remember a bunch of Ricky's friends and family were there for example. I imagine with all the freshmen we have from the DC area, there will be a relatively large UMass crowd there. I would guess 100 to 150.

I am hoping that I will make the second half, but it is not looking likely. I bought my tickets before I knew my graduate class schedule and I have a class on Wednesday evenings. Last weeks class was canceled due to all the snow, so my prof might extend our class to cover the extra material. It is a really hard class, so I really do not want to miss the lectures even though my the Devil on my shoulder is telling me too.

So if you or anyone else are interested in buying my tickets, I can probably arrange that for you. I paid $26 total for 2 tickets plus the reception, but I will accept best offers.

Got some time off work this week and am thinking about making the trek down for the game. Should be fun.

McFadden's is a cool place, I went there for St Patrick's day last year when I was interning in DC, I would encourage anyone in the area to attend. Hope the team stays pumped up for this game. Winning in GW's arena is always tough, but the opportunity to see a 3game winning streak is something I wasn't sure I would see in A10 play this year. Keep it going boys.
I'm against picketing, but I don't know how to show it.

Mike, I enjoy reading your run-up to our next game, but I don't find it here this time? I know how busy you are though. Does anyone have a rundown on the GW team, match-ups to watch?

I'll have my usual preview posted tomorrow afternoon but I suspect someone will post a quick one here first

Thanks! And busy = yes. I have a 5 month old at home, doesn't let me do the site like I used to :)
I might do a little preview tomorrow over lunch.

UMan - I'll take your 2 tickets for $26 if they're still available. I'll send you a PM with the same offer.

I'll be on a flight for the duration of the game. Can't remember the last time I only got the final score of a UMass game and didn't track at least some of it.
