He's what Derrick Gordon was supposed to be, plus far more athletic. His jump shot looks ok, but it's just not consistent. Great defender, great motor, competitor, rebounder, leader, slasher/scorer, terrific in transition.

On the plus side it looks like he can dribble the ball up the court without looking like he s falling down a flight of stairs which is more than Gordan could do. And he seems to be not obsessed with promoting him image every 5 seconds.

Bruce Brown would be an amazing pickup for UMass. Top 40 talent doesn't come around often and whether his shooting is good or just decent I'd take 5 more just like him. If you fill out a roster with talent like this the big debate will be if we have enough shooting to get past the Sweet 16 or win the A10 Championship game. I'll take those 1st world problems any day and twice on Sunday!

Go UMass! Hope to see you on board soon BB

I listened to a podcast at hoopseen.com and it sounded like Corey Evans thinks UMass is ultimately where Brown ends up. Said most people think it's us or IU, with BC and UConn trying to stay in the picture.

I'm guessing beating out those schools for a consensus Top 40 recruit would make some people smile
around here.
It would be especially satisfying considering ESPN doesn't even have us on his list. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/baske ... ruce-brown. It's really just laziness on their part since 24/7 has us in his top 2 with Indiana.

DG's problem was that he had ZERO left hand skill. He did completely everything with his right hand.

ESPN is lazy?? I don't believe it for a second. They are BCS jock-sniffers through and through. Hate that network. I really wish Comcast or someone would pick up football so I didn't have to rely on ESPN 3.

ESPN has a mistake on their website and hasn't changed it? I simply refuse to believe this.

In that light I will be surprised if Jarreau remains top 100 on ESPN. Laugh but it's happened a number of times with A10 recruits.

Don't think we need to dump on Gordon. He played hard and fought through a lot. Good luck to him.

^Well said. I don't get all the DG hate. The kid played his heart out for us every second he was on scholarship here. And who are we to tell a kid not to dream big and go after the NBA??? I just don't understand the thought process of some people on here.

Back to Brown. I have a good feeling too that he'll come here too. That would Gume us a top 25 team for a few years to come. It will be a team that can compete for the second weekend of the tournament if DK and staff can put the kids in the right position to maximize their potential as individuals and a team. I worry some (and it's a small worry) that we won't be able snowball this classes success into the class of 2017 as we don't have any openings in that class right now if I see things correctly. That said, with the talent coming in I wouldn't be shocked if we had a guy or two leave due to lack of minutes. Good problem to have though!

Absolutely would be top 25 team with Bruce. And as much as I bash DK the reality is he was able to get to the tournament with a less talented team. So there's reason to hope. This might be the kind of team that actually fits DK's style. C'mon Bruce, join the party!

I am a little skeptical of the "rating" and more o the comments on this kid. If a kid is truly a top 40, then should be able to score - so I am not that worried about that. Considering the abysmal outside shooting on this team "decent" shooting would be a huge upgrade regardless.

Hope we get Bruce Brown too! But, even if we don't get him, DK has had an amazing recruiting year for 2016.

If Brown doesn't come, maybe look for a very good shooter or another Big?

I have nothing to base this on, but as more time passes I like our chances less of landing Brown. I was hoping he would commit this week after the other 3. If we were his first choice he may have done so. He seems like he's deliberate and he doesn't give away any hints so we might be OK, but I'm getting nervous.
