I am a little skeptical of the "rating" and more o the comments on this kid. If a kid is truly a top 40, then should be able to score - so I am not that worried about that. Considering the abysmal outside shooting on this team "decent" shooting would be a huge upgrade regardless.[/quote]

He can score, that's not the issue. He is not a "great" shooter. He is a good shooter, but because he is so physically gifted he has relied more on that to score. If he develops into a shooter as well he will be in the NBA before his senior year.

If we were his first choice he may have done so. He seems like he's deliberate and he doesn't give away any hints so we might be OK, but I'm getting nervous.
Brown was always going to take his visits and make his decision later. He's been near secretive with his recruiting, the polar opposite of Jarreau & Gresham, but he's also been very deliberate. He's going to get a good look at all his options before he commits. And he's also been to UMass several times unofficially already, which is a good thing. He'll take at least one more visit out there, unofficial or official, along with his other OVs, whenever those may be. Don't worry that he didn't rush to commit after this weekend. We're still probably a slight leader for him as of now.

It seems this is one of the best defensive classes that DK has ever had as well. If we get Brown that really put its over the top. Unique is supposed to be a well above average defender. Brown is said to be one of the best on ball defenders in the country. Both of the bigs we signed seemed to have strong defensive and shot blocking abilities. And to add to this Luwane was known as a top notch defensive guard as well. I really think we have some good defense to look forward to in the near future.

Smart of BB to look at all his options and make the best choice for Him. It's a big decision. If you can go to a school and get a good education while playing, it's a smart move for your future. UMASS is definitely somewhere he can do both, and be close to his hometown. Love that he's known as a great defender and team guy, and think he would be a great fit at UMass. Really hope he becomes a Minuteman

I'm not sure how you can convincingly say this. As we know it he's taken 0 official visits and none are planned. To me, that says I have no idea what he's going to do, whether it's take 5 official visits or none.

We'll see.

He just set up his OV to Indiana (https://indiana.rivals.com/barrier_noen ... id=1809725). There's a paywall, someone with Rivals can get more info, like they actual date.

Niles, you can not question anyone for saying something 'convincingly' when they don't have actual proof. You are the King of doing that very thing! Whether you do it intentionally or not, it drives me nuts. I am not looking for a fight, but man you are the pot calling the kettle black here.

This line of posts got curious so I looked at stats from EYBL since Brown, McLean and Jarreau all played on that circuit this year and Pipkins played on it last year. Here are the numbers.

Brown: Over 22 games, 28.5 mpg, he was 8-28 3pt (28%)
McLean: 20 games, 12.2 mpg, 8-23 3pt (34%)
Jarreau: 20 games, 17.4 mpg, 20-52 3pt (38%)
Pipkins: 20 games, 25.9 mpg, 56-170 3pt (33%)

Some things to keep in mind, Brown was a huge part of his team, pretty much everything ran through him, he averaged 16 points a game, he rarely shot the 3-ball, but his form and % aren't terrible. McLean was the 4th guard option on one of the best teams in the EYBL, the first three guards are all top 150 players, so McLean wasn't given too many opportunities, the one game he did get extended minutes and opportunity due to resting the starters, he responded with 22 points on +50% shooting.

Any three point shooting percentage at 33% or better is good. 33% is the equivalent of shooting 50% of 2 point shots. You win a lot of games with those percentages. Shooting above 33% on 3s is very good and 38% is excellent.

That is Homecoming weekend at Indiana. It's also Homecoming weekend at UMass too.

They play Rutgers in football, should be a good visit for Brown there no doubt.
