For nostalgia, here is where Ron Gerlufsen ended his working career. Seems like he retired happy. https://patch.com/new-jersey/brick/reti ... ck-schools

It’ll be difficult with a football game that day to get there.
Good point, wonder if moving the football game to Friday is a possibility.

The game is against BYU. My guess is it will not be moved and it will be a hard sell to have it start before 3 so BYU can watch at a normal time in their time zone in exchange for playing in Amherst.

From the other thread, Kolton Mitchell has committed so we now know the roster for 2019-2020. For the first time in a long time we do not have a PG under 6' tall. I'm not sure how important that is, but "it is what it is".

I like it. Provides a lot of versatility defensively

I love that we will be playing Virginia and moving the game would be good for some, but, barring a weather event, chances are that there will be several times as many UMass fans at football. And, as with hoops, BYU will use the weekend as an alumni gathering and fundraising event. Also, it's Senior Day for us.

I'm looking forward to the ridiculous "how many minutes will each guy get" and the equally ridiculous "speculating how many minutes each guy will get is stupid" posts.

This post is just as equally ridiculous, but I needed to say it.

I think the over/under concept for this team would be "fascinating."

So as not to incur IV's wrath, all I will say is that we will have one of the youngest teams in the country.
7 freshmen
2 sophs
3 juniors
1 senior

As for any predictions abut minutes, etc., we may know more after the VI trip.

I expect a team that hovers around the .500 mark and finishes 8-10th in the A10.

I would think we will probably see heavy doses of Carl, Samba, Sy, Keon, and Baptiste until the freshmen get acclimated. Mitchell will probably get some serious minutes from the jump and then who knows. I have a hard enough time just remembering all 7. I’m old but that’s also a lot of new faces.

I’m interested in seeing how we play defensively. For years and years now every offseason we have heard how the team is going to press and then when the season rolls around we see it only in small doses (and those doses don’t look very good) — with Bergeron onboard I hope that changes. The depth level — once kids are developed (knock on wood) — should be there to press.

Between that on defense and then on offense having a big that can pass (Mitchell) when doubled and a couple of actual point guards coming in, there is plenty to be interested in at both ends.

If they improve, play hard and consistent (eventually) then I will be happy and I have no idea what that looks like record-wise.

Jackson, I'd be SHOCKED if Tre Mitchell doesn't start from day 1.
I just love the vibe these new guys are putting out there. I think the guys returning and this new group are looking to really change the atmosphere here and I love that they're so positive. I know its early but can't help but love the new optimism.
