Re: KAEO: Noah Fernandes
Area fans, supporters, Court Club members and NIL members certainly are wondering if there was more to Noah shutting things down soon after the Lasalle game than the reported injury? Information became more and more vague and misleading as time went on, and now we know he’s gone. Court Club members were told several times during the season at the pre game reception that his return was imminent …. I remember one time in particular when we were expecting him back and were told last minute that “he’ll be back for the next game”; this went on for several games with no specifics about his injury.
This later transitioned to the message of “ don’t expect him back this year”. So, it begs the question… was it simply a matter of a nagging injury that regressed and prevented a return, or is there more to the story? It was reported in the forum that he was cleared to play weeks before the season ended… don’t know if this is accurate? Does any of this have to do with other issues with coaching, or other concerns? And, what about NIL members that contribute to a player’s financial well-being, only to see a player miss much of the year and then leave? Perhaps it was simply a matter of a player not wanting to risk further injury as he sets his sights on a career beyond UMass…. Just wish there was better communication; even in his NIL interview, people were told not to ask about the injury… why not???
Can’t say that I blame him… at this stage of his career he deserves to play in front of a real Div 1 crowd and compete in the NCAA tournament…. Just wondering if there is more to the story, and if there are more shoes to drop…. Certainly a very disappointing season overall, and depending on who comes back or transfers in to set the stage for the underwhelming # 135 recruiting class coming in, we remain in the midst of familiar territory…. March Sadness

There are way too many variables. He is graduating. He may want a graduate degree in a field that he and Umass do not match up well in. He and his girlfriend just had a baby. If he made his intentions clear to Frank that he was transferring, Frank shouldn’t have played him, IMO. Go with the guys who want to be here. It is what it is.RagingCager wrote: Mon Mar 13, 2023 4:38 pm Area fans, supporters, Court Club members and NIL members certainly are wondering if there was more to Noah shutting things down soon after the Lasalle game than the reported injury? We can’t control injuries or unforeseen circumstances. His NIL deal was for this season, not any further. But we did present a significant opportunity for next year.RagingCager wrote: Mon Mar 13, 2023 4:38 pm Area fans, supporters, Court Club members and NIL members certainly are wondering if there was more to Noah shutting things down soon after the Lasalle game than the reported injury? It’s pretty standard to not ask a college player about their injury, especially as we are not media members and just fans, we did not think it would be appropriate to do so. That is almost always handled by the team, and they communicated the status to the media and fans throughout the season.
Re: KAEO: Noah Fernandes
Unfortunately I think this shows what he thought of the potential of this team and how good they could be.tough to see a Massachusetts kid leave for greener pastures
Re: KAEO: Noah Fernandes
I'm wondering who else will leave. Sounds like Cross and Wildens want to stay.

I'm going to miss Noah and wish him well in his future endeavors. Why he didn't play at the end of the year no longer matters at this point. He was great when he played, but unfortunately he did have a history of injury problems. In his 3 years here he played in 13, 28 and 11 games. It shows you how good he was that we think this highly of him in a 52 game career.

Agree. He was fun to watch and our best player when he played. The year would have played out much differently had he stayed healthy. But I barely remember watching him this year other than the game winning 3. Our PGs got a ton of minutes they wouldn't have gotten and will be better next year. Good luck to him at his next stop and I hope his ankle is good. My son had a bad high ankle sprain and his ankle has never been the same.

I'm oddly at peace with this one. With the amount of time he sat and participating in senior day, I already assumed he was leaving. He's a class act and gave us some dynamic performances. Good luck wherever he lands.
I think that this speaks to his relationship or lack thereof with Frank. He was a real McCall guy through and through and I think he and Frank probably just didn't mesh. It happens.

Re: KAEO: Noah Fernandes
Contrasting what Pipkins said about leaving vs. Noah tweeting "Minuteman for Life" and his praise for our University (https://twitter.com/noahfernandes_/stat ... 3333420033)
you have to think this was about graduating, picking a better spot for next year with his personal situation and not any fault of teammates, coaches, the facilities, etc. He could have been a great one but for injuries. Hope he has a great year next season elsewhere (as long as it's not with an opponent). Imagine if he got hurt again late this season. He's already a little risky due to past injuries, but worth the risk for sure. But one more would have increased that risk too much.

As I mentioned before, from an airtight source, Noah was cleared to play a long time ago.
For those of you that are fine with him not playing- you’re welcome to your opinion. I, for one, am not

So he just quit on his team despite being cleared to play? Same guy who hopped out on one foot to beat Harvard?vanmeter wrote: Mon Mar 13, 2023 8:00 pm As I mentioned before, from an airtight source, Noah was cleared to play a long time ago.
