Re: 2024 Recruiting
Womp womp. I won't spend a single second following this kid's career. This is an uber-talented elite prospect that is going to play for one season and then go straight to the NBA, why not do it at Maine and be interesting. Do we really think that he's "committed" to Duke and just dying to get to the Final Four? Not a chance, his only goal is the NBA, college ball is just a stop over. I don't have any hate towards the kid or wish him bad luck, it's just boring and I will not be watching.
Re: 2024 Recruiting
I only care about UMass hoops and the Celtics. Don't care too much about this cooper guy.

Ha, if he was coming here you'd all have dirty draws.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades
Re: 2024 Recruiting
Huh? C'mon Juice. #1 rated recruit and he should play at Maine? Every top recruits goal is to get to the league and cash in. Playing against vastly inferior talent at Maine doesn't prepare you or develop your skills to play against the worlds best. Kid is good. Good for him and his family.Juice Stand wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 1:02 pm Womp womp. I won't spend a single second following this kid's career. Should have stayed in New England and played for usFloyd wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 4:26 pmHuh? C'mon Juice. #1 rated recruit and he should play at Maine? It was that or Uconn. Would you have preferred that? He would have stayed in New England at least. And I wouldn't exactly call it boring anymore now that he could have just went to the G League Ignite or any of those other non-collegiate options.Juice Stand wrote: Mon Oct 30, 2023 1:02 pm Womp womp. Re: 2024 Recruiting
The ONLY time talking about recruits like this was interesting was when Cal was here and we actually had a legitimate shot at landing them. Now it is boring. He never glanced our way and he's not even from Mass, so who cares what he does.
When the Celtics draft him he's back on the radar.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
I can't find that he has any offers yet, just interests. There must be something going on behind the scenes.

EDIT: I didn't realize we had talked about him in May, when he took an unofficial visit.
Here are his "interests" from 247Sports:By CHARLIE PARENT
Former Pittsburgh star center Bobby Martin, who put up 1,282 points for the Panthers between 1987 and 1991, is now working with class of 2024 big man Kesean Shillingford.
Shillingford is a 7-footer out of The Newman School (MA.) and The House That We Built AAU. He previously played for Christ the King (NY.) before transferring to Newman for his prep year.
He has received early interest from Iona, Ohio, UMass, UMBC, Radford, Fairfield, Bucknell, and Stonehill, among several others.
“He’s just emerging,” The House That We Built coach Alfred Chan said in a phone interview. “This is just the beginning for Kesean. He’s going to rise and he’s going to rise quickly and we expect him to take that well.”

^Here's the most recent article on Kesean - unfortunately, it is behind a paywall.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
This kid is a lock as I believe Cal recruited Bobby Martin to Pitt back in the 80s.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
You think he's already a lock because his coach knows Cal?
I hope you are correct!

I was just kidding about the lock part. I have no idea.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
The Walker kid committed to us today.
Really intrigued by him. Plays for good high school and AAU programs. Kind of sounds a bit like a David Roddy-type of player - strong and skilled but not incredibly long and athletic. Those kinds of players — where they aren’t really easy to pigeonhole into a position because their size/build doesn’t lend itself to that but rather are just good basketball players — can be really successful in college.
Not sure if it was one or the other, but it seems like it came together pretty quick once Abdullahi chose Princeton.
First couple of 2024s seem like really good pieces.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
He and Nate fill the 2 open roster spots. I can almost guarantee we'll lose a player or three, so let's get some depth at the 4 and 5.

Re: 2024 Recruiting
Like Frank Martin said, we got another dawg on the team. We need players that will help us win at the end of the day, plain and simple. Definitely intrigued with Lewis Walker! WELCOME TO UMASS
