WICKEDLOCAL.com:
Peabody native Heather MacLean ran the fastest mile in the world this year on Sunday, clocking 4:17 for the second fastest American indoor mile of all time.
The Olympian and University of Massachusetts Amherst alum’s time is second in American history to her teammate, Vermont’s Elle St. Pierre. Both runners are on New Balance Boston, a New Balance sponsored running team based in Boston and coached by Olympian
Mark Coogan.
MacLean’s time is also the fourth fastest indoor mile on the world all-time list.
Man, I always knew Mark was a special guy!

Heather should be able to go to world indoor championships in the 1500, even though she finished 3rd in US indoors. Nikki Hiltz (who won the women's 1500) said they won't be competing in World Indoors.
