Awesome report featuring our terrific AD about the flawless and definitely not over-subscribed parking situation on family weekend: https://www.westernmassnews.com/2025/10 ... s&tbref=hp

The "perfect storm" Ryan Bamford talked about was not due to the large crowds, it was due to the failure of the administration to prepare for those expected large crowds (great weather, family weekend, multiple events happening). The administration should WANT large crowds. Their repeated failures continue to be a perfect storm of poor planning.

I think we will be better than Charlotte next year listening to his press conference. But same issues as 50 in the portal. Glad our coach spent time explaining things, taking responsibility, and think he will improve. This guys seems to spend way too much time talking about portal issues and the goal of not finishing last in the AAC.

Unbelievable. Bamford is truly a jackass. Guy can’t do anything right.

Joleon, would you rather have us drop down to a Maine/UNH level athletics program? That’s the road we were cruising toward by staying in the A10 as they will continue to lose basketball schools. The football team has been brutal this year but I agree with Steve, the MAC is best for the university’s long term vision 5-10 years from now.
No, I think I’d rather be a URI (if we were to drop down and had stayed in the A10) or VCU athletics program (if eliminating the program and had stayed in the A10). But, sure, it’s either “Maine/UNH” or MAC “stability.” Got it.

uri..... Thanks for removing all doubt that you literally have no qualifications whatsoever for being Bamford's replacement unless we're looking for a less qualified AD. Do you at least know anything about how to operate a parking lot???

^ Im sure URI is kicking themselves for not playing FBS.

And, btw, I wouldn't consider being Bamford’s replacement, so you can rest easy. He’s followed the wise counsel of fools like you and moved us into the MAC. There is clearly a larger cultural and institutional failure at work that allows that kind of insanity to go unchecked. 700k ain’t nothing to sneeze at, but that’d be a shitty job to take over at this point.

Astounding that they didn't account for the prospect of people perhaps wanting to spend some time in a time- honored tailgate tradition and account for the safety and comfort of the participants. Simple stuff.
If we are talking about a mid-January Saturday hoops game, yeah, you can use an approximate nine-foot wide parking space, but we would be hard-pressed to have any issues with meeting up with friends, except inside a warm gathering place.
We want to be big time. Act like it.

That's great because there is zero chance that a fool like you who wants to be uri (just brilliant btw     ) would have a snowball's chance in hell of ever succeeding Bamford as our next AD. But perhaps a fool like you does have some experience as a parking lot attendant - so you might have that going for you. thanks for the laughs

I know it’s hard, Junior. Take a breath. Calm down. It will help. I don’t “want to be URI.” I think I probably hate them more than your foolish ass. I wrote that I would rather be ‘A URI.’ That is, in the same relative position as URI. Perhaps we need more teachers and less parking attendants? I’ll say this slow and again for you: back in the A10 and not playing FBS OR (and I know in your best New England provincialism you forgot to mention) VCU. That is, back in the A10, putting money into hoops, and not bothering at all about football.

In the meantime, I’ll put your car in the far corner of the lot, where the rust, stench, leaking oil, refrigerator witticism and amusement park bumper stickers will be out of site of the well respected guests.

This even more than the play on the field falls at the feet of the AD. Being able to deliver an FBS level atmosphere on game day is something that is completely a choice, it doesn’t happen by accident. Bamford chooses not to be a leader and let that fall into chaos as well. Put in a little prep work and things will go smoothly on game day. It’d be nice to hear comments like: “it’s too bad the football team is so bad because the stadium and the entire tailgating experience is top notch. Hopefully the team gets better but I’ll be back because the whole experience was so good.” We can’t even have that. This guy shouldn’t be in charge of running anything never mind a D1 college sports program.

Your view is your own and respect it, but don't think 1 former and 1 current Chancellor agree. They view Football as the front porch of UMass and connection with the alumni. We have stunk for 13 years straight. We were 0-6 and yet 15,242 people showed up. Image once we start winning and that was a MAC opponent. Believe a flagship university in a populated state should have football at the flagship campus. Except for smaller or less populated states all have football. Are they all wrong, or does football bring alumni engagement and national exposure. Hope more will get behind the program so it becomes positive engagement. We are in a hole and will take some time to get out of it, but we made a big step leaving the A10. No one wants to wait, myself included. But we have to take another bitter pill this year and hope the medicine starts to work for future success.
