We have over 2,100 tickets out now through Commonwealth Legacy Foundation. We were aiming for 500, so we are pretty blown away by the response from the different groups.

Hopefully the regular normal crowd also shows so we can get 5,000 or so and a good atmosphere in the building.

any idea if the school is offering a bus to shuttle any students that might want to go? I know it's hard enough to get the students to go to a game on campus let alone Springfield - but being the hated BC Eagles some students might be willing to go if they didn't have to drive?

UPDATE: The ticket request form has been temporarily paused for additional submissions due to the overwhelming response so far while the MassMutual Center reviews further availability. We hope to reopen the form if space allows and are waiting for final approval. All ticket requests submitted up to this point have been honored and fulfilled. #GoUMass

A little info on BC. They take about 45% of their shots from 3 and are at 29%.

They have 1 guy, Payne (6'1), at 35.6% and he takes 6 per game. He averages 13 points a game.

Their leading scorer, Hand (6'5) is a volume scorer at 14.8. He takes 14 shots a game and his overall shooting % is 32%. He takes more threes per game (7) than anybody else, but he is at 19%.

So if the numbers hold, you know who to guard at the three point line and who to play off of and stop him from driving.

Starting lineup is:
Hand 6'5 (14.8 points, 5 boards)
Payne 6'1 (13 points)
Forte 6'4 (8 points)
Hastings 6'9 (7 points, 5 boards and 1.6 blocks)
Shaw 6'9 (5 points, 8 boards and 1.4 blocks)

1st guy off the bench is Kapke (6'11, 255). He gets 9 points and 5 boards in 23 minutes. But he does hit 37.5% of his threes (9/24 on the year). Next is Luka Toews (6'1) who we recruited a few years ago. He averages 6 points in 16 minutes and is also at 37.5% from three, taking 2 per game.

Family and Community Night for UMass Basketball vs. Boston College is officially fully committed with nearly THREE THOUSAND tickets redeemed. We are thrilled with the response and cannot wait to host youth groups, families, and community organizations from across Massachusetts tomorrow at MassMutual Center.

Featured groups include:

Brightwood Elementary School
South End Community Center
Migs Basketball Team
MLK Community Center
Holyoke YMCA
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western Mass
Hadley Elementary
…and many more.

This turnout is incredible, but our mission goes far beyond one event. Not every gathering will be this big. Our goal is to build a sustainable community program that brings youth groups and families to all ticketed UMass Athletic events, whether it is twenty people at a game or the sky is the limit.

How you can help or get involved:

• Connect us with local youth groups and community organizations
• Volunteer as a rep or coordinator for a specific UMass sport
• Support the mission with a donation. We receive discounted group rates, but tickets are not free. Every contribution helps us host more families. All donations are tax deductible as we are a registered 501c3 non-profit

Second, out of curiosity, is there going to be an event with these youth groups, like an autograph session, or is it "just" the tickets to the game. I say "just" in quotes, because I phrased this poorly and giving out free tickets is more than sufficient on its own.

Right, the stream. My point is that this is also on an actual TV channel. That is usually put out there and highlighted, which in this case it was not.


It isn't end of the world stuff, but you probably want to market that you are on TV. Maybe that's just me, I don't know.
