This is a great thing... more MAC teams in bowls, more revenue for UMass.

So how much will UMass make for 5 MAC teams making a bowl game?

The MAC divides the bowl payouts equally among the ten schools. So, UMass gets 10% of bowl money from the MAC. The bowl money goes to the conference not the schools. The conference provides some money to the schools in the bowls for travel etc. the bowls the MAC teams are in total payout per team is around 5 million, so UMass will get about 500k.

No idea on exact figures, I'm sure the MAC could provide that info to you once revenue is collected. But generally it is what minutefanjsf said. The more bowls your conference plays in, the more revenue into the conference sent from each of those bowls, which is then divided up by the conference schools. Obviously if you're playing in the bowl, your opportunity for revenue is higher as well.

This is a massive part of being in a conference for football, even in shitty seasons like this.

My assumption for this year is it will be divided by either 11, 12 or 13. Does UMass get a full share year 1? I don’t think they did in 2012 when NIU went to the Orange Bowl but I could be misremembering. Speaking of which, does NIU get a full share on the way out?

Regardless in the future I’d think UMass would be getting 1/12 or about 8% of the revenue.
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Leave the A-10!

We did not in MAC Round 1; there was a "transition period" so we missed out on the NIU BCS Bowl money.

My understanding is that we are fully in on things like this from the jump this go-around, but I could be mistaken.

Western Michigan with a number of Walt Bell and a few UMass references is dominating the CUSA champs at halftime.

I don't think so, at least not next year.

So far, the showing of G6 in the playoff has been underwhelming (to be kind) but they have been represented. Next year one of two things will likely happen:

1. No G6 will be invited (there is no G6 guarantee)
2. The G6 team(s) that does make it, gets blown out again.

If either, happens there will be a push for a G6 playoff. If none get invited, the G6 will look for it; and if the G6 gets blown out again, the P4 will lobby to keep them out and force it that way.

It is amazing that history is repeating itself. We're going back to 1A/1-AA.
