Agree. He's really easy to root for and has huge potential that we see on occasion, but he needs to step up. Can you explain what you mean by "he pushed Parker and others away"? If there was something during the game, I must have missed it.minutefanjsf wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:54 pm ...DHS is an enigma. Even in games where his stats are good to excellent like last night, he is still leaving a lot out there. Dumb fouls, losing rebounds (like the last one last night), missing bunnies, taking threes at the wrong time, etc. vs BGU he pushed Parker and others away. I've met him and enjoy him. I root for him. As a senior leader getting the most bank, he has to be elite in the MAC consistently not just as a player, but as a leader. Announcers also night said there was not a lot of leadership in the walk through/warm ups.

Yes. It was during the game. It was near the end of the second half. I Believe he had just been and was going to the line. He was heated. It was a tense moment. Not chaotic. Parker and someone else went over to him and he literally pushed them back. It looked like he didn't want to hear what they were saying. It seems out of character and way out of line. Parker looked to be going over to "bond", and was clearly dismissed. I saw it on TV. I was not at the game.Juice Stand wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 1:19 pmAgree. Re: 2025-26 Season
So here's my UMass blood talking. We lost 4 MAC games, all winnable games if we had a few better possesions/decisions. It is unquestionable to me that we COULD beat those upper level MAC teams on the next go around, and SHOULD beat the other MAC teams on the schedule. Do that, get in the league tourney, and who knows. I like this team, but there's definitely some things to work on/ clean up. And its all fixable stuff. I'm still in on this team

I just looked at the play by play and think it was at the very end when he missed the bunny and hit the two free throws.minutefanjsf wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 2:02 pmYes. It was during the game. Interesting, thanks. I did not see that happen, or it at least didn't register with me. Disappointing, but there's a lot going on in the heat of battle, especially as things were unraveling in that game. Sounds like frustration with himself for missing the short shot attempt. We agree on the larger point though that he needs to be better overall.minutefanjsf wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 2:11 pm I just looked at the play by play and think it was at the very end when he missed the bunny and hit the two free throws.

Re: 2025-26 Season
When we were told that we had the resources to compete among the top of the MAC, and then start a combined football & men's hoop 0-16 in the league, I worry. And, we have yet to play 3 of the current top 4 teams in the men's hoop standings, 2 of which we have to play twice.

Just don't understand how some fans are somewhat okay with what's happening at UMass. To me, it's bizarre

Steve you had the same mentality with football.. Dead last in football: it's just cloudy, it's not falling.... so if last place isn't falling... when is falling?Steve81 wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 4:10 pmDon't worry, the sky is cloudy, but not fallingMikeUMA wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 12:55 pmI get it, but the standings don't care how close we were. Re: 2025-26 Season
Just realized that the coach from last years MAC champs, Akron, and the coach from this years top team (so far), Miami OH, are brothers. In summary, John Groce and Travis Steele are brothers.
Re: 2025-26 Season
what's bizarre is there is NO outcry except for us on a message board. How do we lose to schools with a fraction of the athletic budget and whose coach makes half what ours makes? If we lose Saturday you know things are really fucked up.inthescoop wrote: Wed Jan 07, 2026 4:27 pmSteve you had the same mentality with football.. In our first go around in the MAC 2012 - 2015; we swept the MAC schools out of conference in the A10. we went 4-0 each season. Now we can't beat a MAC school.

Re: 2025-26 Season
cannot compare 2012-2015 to this years team - those Umass teams were legit - NCAA team one year and deep runs in the NIT the others - I don't know if all were top 75 teams but the 2014 team peeked at #11 I believe, so with all due respect, we should have swept those MAC teams back then.ZooMass84 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 9:53 am In our first go around in the MAC 2012 - 2015; we swept the MAC schools out of conference in the A10. we went 4-0 each season. Re: 2025-26 Season
so let's analyze that: how are we so much worse in 10 years???? Coach Cal was 30 years ago (final 4) and our 1AA football Natty was 28 years ago. Sounds crazy but BC is going through an identical thing: both their football and hoops suck.MakeMullinsGreatAgain wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 3:28 pmcannot compare 2012-2015 to this years team - those Umass teams were legit - NCAA team one year and deep runs in the NIT the others - I don't know if all were top 75 teams but the 2014 team peeked at #11 I believe, so with all due respect, we should have swept those MAC teams back then.ZooMass84 wrote: Thu Jan 08, 2026 9:53 am In our first go around in the MAC 2012 - 2015; we swept the MAC schools out of conference in the A10. we went 4-0 each season.
