Hole. Eee. Shit.
That was insane.
DG injury looked like maybe he hit his tailbone when he fell - hurts like a bitch when it happens but usually nothing major.
The Cady charge/block I thought should have been a no-call. I don't think it was a block, but I also don't think Cady should be trying to take a charge on a play like that - it isn't like he plowed him over. I don't imagine he'd get that call very often. I feel Cady should be playing stronger d than that - and if he's gonna foul he should really foul. Unlike that one play on the fast break.
Marty? You ok buddy? dude vanished from the bar seconds after the game ended, and that was the craziest one yet. I think his health may actually be tied to the team so I'm a little worried about him tonight...

The first 10 games of the season, that team can play with anyone, but the last 6...what a joke. I know I am going to take some heat for this, but if we are happy after a win like that..what a joke.
Ever since the Sampson Carter quote came out about how they had all been watching teams in the top 10 and they felt they could play with anyone in the country, they have played terrible.
If I had said we'd score nearly 90 points tonight, I would have thought we should have won by a minimum of 15 points. We allowed a terrible team score more then 20 points over the season average. No heart, no hustle, no defense...just terrible disappointed.
Thank god they won, but a part of me thinks they need to lose so they don't think they can just go through the motions and win. God am I frustrated!
Your life must really suck.
XLG for the win. Enjoy the fucking ride, people. Bitch when they lose.
We are the Auburn of college basketball. It's not always pretty, but it's almost always a W and it's freaking joyous.
Goodnight everybody.

Regarding ithe play by play announcer - as someone mentioned earlier, his name is Frank Hanrahan and according to his bio, he is a local DC guy.

So you're saying we're going to get to the final and lose in heartbreaking fashion?

I know not everyone on the thread is a Pats fan, but let's hope the outcome for the football Patriots is a little different on Sunday.

This team is taking years off my life. I didn't think there was any way they were pulling that one out. I don't think it's out of line to say that this team isn't going to go 29-1, sooner or later this is going to catch up with them and they won't be able to pull off a miracle, but through 16 games they're 15-1, and yeah these last few games have been edge of your seat thrill rides, but find me a team in college basketball that hasn't had these types of games this season.
It would be nice to beat a team by double digits and cruise through the last three minutes though.

Has this thought crossed anyone else's mind?
That the DG injury might have been a blessing in disguise given that he didn't have to attempt those free throws? Maybe he should get injured when he's set to shoot FTs more often. I'm not saying he was faking it, but maybe this could be a legitimate strategy going forward.
Also made me wonder what the NCAA rules are in this situation -- when is the injured player allowed to come back in after going out and being unable to attempt his FTs?

I know a few years ago the NCAA was talking about letting the opposing coach choose any of the 4 players left on the court to shoot the FTs for an injured player. I haven't paid much attention to it I guess so I don't even know what the rule is now.

On the post game presser, DK looks kind of annoyed (about 13:05 mark) when someone asks Chaz about his ankle. Def looks like he doesn't like the question

^^ I'm too lazy to go back and see who exactly it was that mentioned that, but someone else pointed out the same. Crazy, but I think you guys are right. Cady was confidently stroking it from the line at that point, DG... not so much. Really hope that bruised back or tailbone doesn't linger.
I was at the game last night and was in too much shock to come back and read through the roller coaster of emotions on the board... had to save it for this morning. Everything I've been thinking has been said, but I do want to echo the sentiments that this was one of DK's best coached games (congrats on the 100th!) and I absolutely loved Berger stepping up and playing LOCK DOWN defense for a couple possessions at the end!
Hanging out with the DC contingent of UMies at the pre event and making some noise during the game made me proud to be an alum. Klyde did a great job organizing the get together and you could tell it was truly appreciated by everyone in attendance.
After the win, we ran down above the tunnel where the team was filing off of the court. The raw emotion of the players, coaches and fans was unreal. Chaz shot his nasty sweat-soaked headband into the crowd and my buddy came away with it, haha. Without pause, he threw that disgusting thing on and we continued our celebration! But the best part of the night, hands down, was the guy who brought some sort of mini trumpet to the game. After we yelled down to the team, he started playing the UMass fight song and the whole UMass crowd got the GO.... GO U... GO UMass... GO UMASS chant going as we marched right out the front door together. I won't forget it.

UMass87 wrote:IV - actually 5912 were at the game but your point is still valid - that IS pathetic.
There is no way that the arena was 60% filled. Last time UMASS played at GW, UMASS fans had a great showing. Looking forward to UMASS fans having a large contingency at the Feb.15th game. Hoping that UMASS does not have to play 5 players verse 8 players/refs at the GW game.
Enjoying the ride this year. However, I am looking forward to UMASS dominating their opponents - hopefully soon.

I know that's a figure of speech....but I have to tell you...that win put a little extra spring in my step.
Last night's win made me smile and is helping me to look at my day with a brighter attitude. If UMass can snatch a victory out of the jaws of defeat like that...the problems I face each day feel a bit more solveable...if they can do it...so can I!
So much to take away from the win...Refuse to Lose 2.0, Jimmy V's "Never give up!", the brotherhood, DK going to the 1-2-2 zone, the guys keeping their cool after DG's hoop, Chaz and DG's balls of steel, Raph and Cady's play.
Keep it up guys...
