Game 1 (2016): Florida
Even though the game is about 3.5 months away Vegas just released the lines for opening weekend. We open as 37 point underdogs.

Unfortunately that's not unwarranted. It always looks shocking but it's really not. Honestly I was kind of hoping they would be under 5 TD dogs, turns out it's a little more.
They've got to work hard to try and prove that wrong. Execute with good habits, try and set yourself up well for the following games. Not at least covering the spread would be tough.

Not sure how much we're going to learn about the squad in this one. In Gainesville vs an SEC defense is a brutal way for a QB to get his first start. Gotta hope Marquis Young can gash a few long ones. If we score more than 10 before the 2nd and 3rd defenses come in and/or hold the Gators to less than 35 it's a positive sign.

Get out of the Swamp without major injuries and bring home a nice paycheck.

A fat paycheck and no serious injuries. That's the competitive spirit of college football!....smh

I think this is my biggest fear about playing the 2016 schedule. I know UMass has done a better job recruiting FBS size, but it's young size.DrG wrote:Get out of the Swamp without major injuries and bring home a nice paycheck.
Raise the bar, do the minimum.

The Photoman is shooting a Bar Mitzvah Sept. 3rd from 1-5 in the afternoon. I'm LOVING that 7:30 game time!

I was hoping to make the trip to support the football team but researched and saw all the local hotels were sold out. Any suggsstions or reserved rooms for hotels for umass alumni?

A quick search on Kayak.com shows plenty of rooms still available in the area.

Saturday night in the Swamp, especially early in the season when it's hot and humid, can be very intimidating.
