2024 Season
The ink is still drying on the 2023 season, but it's never too early to start talking about next year.

Re: 2024 Season
It is an interesting schedule.
At least Georgia is late. No excuses for getting beat up and "wrecking" their season getting beat up early - Toledo will not be a pushover in game #2 however.

Re: 2024 Season
I see one gimme win, 7 flip of the coin games and 4 guaranteed losses. That means we need to win 5 of the 7 flip of the coin games to get to 6 wins. That's a tall task. We need a freaking conference yesterday.

Based on the last two years, I have zero confidence that this staff can win 5 of 7 flip of the coin games.Quann wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 9:58 am I see one gimme win, 7 flip of the coin games and 4 guaranteed losses. Re: 2024 Season
Yikes, 3 SEC and 5 MAC teams, including the two best in that league (who we also played this year). Relatively speaking we actually played a fairly tough schedule this year. For what it's worth, according to the Athletic's final regular season rankings of all 133 FBS teams (UMass is 123 so we stayed out of the Bottom Ten!), we played six of the top 54 teams (Penn St., Liberty, Toledo, NM State, Miami O. and Auburn).
Re: 2024 Season
6-0 heading into Mizzou..assuming that game is not cancelled. We are going to be better next year
Re: 2024 Season
Don't like playing Georgia period. Especially a week before UConn.
Otherwise not too bad. Notice back to back bye weeks but it's good considering it is sandwiched between to other SEC games, 3 next year.

Re: 2024 Season
For next year, I think we'll once again see a noticeable positive difference in talent level. I think DB and the staff know how to recruit and there were enough positive things to point at from this year over the last few years for them to continue to build on the recruiting efforts thus far.
The big areas that I believe the staff really needs to focus on are:
- in-game discipline
- play calling/scheming - mostly on D this time, but Casula still needs work if he is going to remain here
- work on in-game situations where they need to be aggressive and where to be conservative.
These were major issues all season. I'm sure there are plenty of other things to fix/improve on, but those are the 3 key areas that come to mind.
Next years' schedule is not easy... so I'm not going to predict wins/loses... but I feel like if they can get over the hump is some/all of these areas, they can certainly win more than 3 next season.

Re: 2024 Season
Why not play against the best? We have nothing to lose. Should be viewed as a positive and part of the learning curve.Steve81 wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 4:21 pm Don't like playing Georgia period. Especially a week before UConn.

Re: 2024 Season
Really hard to think about next year until we see who goes into the Portal and who stays. Have to think the Arizona pipeline for incoming transfers has pretty much dried up. Also have to see improvement in special teams.
Re: 2024 Season
I guess last season was worse-but this year should have been better. Too many stupid penalties-like Saturday-personal foul away from the play. Guys need to pay attention and focus on playing the game.
Like km109 said until we know what the roster looks like it’s impossible to think about next season.

Re: 2024 Season
Truth. No reason to think otherwise. 5 of 7 coin flip games? Not a chance. That UConn game was a chance to make a statement. Unfortunately it wasn't the statement we wanted to hear.LouMass wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 12:20 pmBased on the last two years, I have zero confidence that this staff can win 5 of 7 flip of the coin games.Quann wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 9:58 am I see one gimme win, 7 flip of the coin games and 4 guaranteed losses. Re: 2024 Season
2-2 to start the season. EMU we can win at home and FCS Wagner should both be wins. Then maybe 1 or 2 more but second half of the season is ridiculous.

Re: 2024 Season
The risk of injuries is always there, but seems higher when playing our of our weight class. Now 3 SEC teams is ridiculous, when we are trying to build a winning seasons and go bowling again. Missouri is a a home and home and we can not pass that up for our fans. They are Top 20 and a nice challenge. There is no need to also play Georgia.inthescoop wrote: Mon Nov 27, 2023 5:08 pmWhy not play against the best? We have nothing to lose. Re: 2024 Season
1 SEC team per year is awesome and fun. 3 in 1 season is a nightmare and too much. I do like that we have all of these MAC games, we can at least compete against that tier of talent. Army and Liberty should both be fun games again as well.
