Re: Game 15, 2024-25: Richmond (1/4/25)
Matt McCall was horrible. But I will swap him back for Frank Martin in a heartbeat

Re: 2024 Recruiting
Maybe I am in the minority but I'm a little disappointed with our portal work. Betting pretty damn big on internal development and I don't hate that because Frank has shown that it's a strong point in his programs. But was really hoping that we would make a splash.
And, yes, I understand how ...

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024
You can tell. Frank is known for playing freshman. If he likes you, he’s going to find a way to play you. Which is why we saw him try to force Worthy at times.DoctorJ wrote: Tue Apr 23, 2024 10:29 am You can't really tell with Freshmen if they are junk. Almost all of them suck in the first year.

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024
Because even though Frank might preach loyalty and roster building, he's not an idiot. If players want to come and go as they please here, he needs to take it in stride and adapt. He can't just see a max exodus and say "Well Tyler's a guy who was probably going to be the 8th/9th guy on my ...

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024
I was looking forward to seeing Mason play more. Oh, well. I don't understand why people think him transferring is not a surprise. Why would the staff and player spend time building a relationship and investing in each other for him to play a semester as a late addition freshman, then bolt ...

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024
Last year NIL money was allocated to 2 1st Team A10 Players and an All Rookie Team Player.
This year, so far, we have allocated NIL money to the A10 Most Improved Player, an All Rookie Team Member, a Freshman who started ALL games for UMass last year and a player who showed flashes of ...

Re: UMass transfer portal news - 2024
I continue to be fascinated by this exchange.
Running offense through the post his first year here wasn't totally effective. We had some defense and rebounding in Wildens, but our big guys missed way too many shots in the paint. It was sort of the opposite this past year.
My read on Tyler ...

Re: Game 25, 2023-24: at LaSalle (2/17)
Well that was a step back. Not going to win many game when you give up 51 in the first half. Guard play killed us. Our 4 guards shot 6 for 29. The rest of the team shot 19 for 30.
I’ve been harping on the lack of shooting all year — makes the margin for error that much thinner and LaSalle did a ...

Re: Game 22, 2023-24: at St. Bonaventure (2/7)
“Why are we so bad in close games?” I’ve got 2 reasons:
1) We’re young and have to learn how to win these games. The Mason game doesn’t count. We have to win a close game, and soon. I hope the core returns and they can grow together, but if they lose important cogs, it’s an indictment of Frank’ s ...

Re: Game 22, 2023-24: at St. Bonaventure (2/7)
That Cohen missed layup was a killer.
We have a good team but have to beat other good teams on the margins, limiting turnovers and hitting free throws. Just don't have enough firepower to overcome those things otherwise.
We don’t have a good team. This team is bang average and the 5-5 record ...

Re: 2024 Recruiting
We’re not winning no A10 title if this same group + freshman returns. This team still needs a veteran shooter who can shoot 40% from 3 to compete at a high level. Davis clearly ain’t getting the job done and I don’t think we want to go into next season having to rely on him. Too many 2-10, 3-14 ...

Re: 2024 Recruiting
^ I think Rollie is still a PWO, but it really doesn't matter. We have 3 guys coming in, and I'll call it 12 guys on scholarship now. So 2 spots have to open up. I think all of us agree that Foster is the most likely to leave. He has been here all year and gets almost no minutes.
I will be ...

Re: Game 17, 2023-24: at Loyola Chicago (1/17)
Does Keon Thompson start for any other team in the A10? Deserve better play from our starting PG
He's had a few off games, but he's been solid all season. Curry may be making a case to take on the job with his play, but KT has earned being the starter thus far. It is a valid question because ...
