Just to clarify that 18% was for one set of recruits (6 year period) that the report looked at, not his entire career. In fact the 2004 numbers from the NCAA are much better.

My point was you represented that was 18% for his career, which is not true. The fact is you have no idea about that number.

But by looking at even an average of those two numbers, it is nowhere near 18%.

I'm wondering how you would possibly know about cal's graduation rate at Memphis is since the NCAA hasn't published anything that would remotely address Memphis rates since Cal was hired.
the most recent data is 2004: http://www.ncaa.org/grad_rates/2004/d1/index.html

that data uses the 97-98 cohort for the statistics. Calipari didn't arive in Memphis until 2000-2001.

By the way - using NCAA graduation rates is a tricky thing. Here's a partial list of players that will count against Lappas' graduation rate at UMass regardless of whether they graduate somewhere else:

Willie Jenkins
Jameel Pugh
Raheim Lamb
Kyle Wilson
Stephen Briggs
Mike Lasme
Gabe Lee

That was followed by: with low grad rates, "off court troubles, and shady recruiting," and then-"he doesnt graduate many players."

Professor..please note the commas that are used to elaborate on subjects.

The NCAA's grad rates are ridiculously flawed the way they are set up right now. Not only will Jenkins leaving count against Lappas and UMass, he will NOT count for Tenn Tech, as transfers/JUCO's are not included in the official NCAA grad rates.

Also, regarding Calipari - I do not have my "Refuse To Lose" book handy, but I believe that book had UMass' grad rate above 80% during Cal's tenure here. I have the book boxed up somewhere, but if I find it I will post the information.

Memphis isn't the only team that might make for good drama against UMass. Drexel just won their 17th game tonight (17-10).

Flint and the Dragons got the #4 seed in the 10-team CAA tournament. They play #5 Hofstra on Saturday.
