At UMass
- Played the 2002-03 season with the Minutemen, but knee injuries ended his career early.
- Chose to transfer to UMass in May 2001, after playing his first two years at UConn. Had also considered Rhode Island and George Washington.1)

2002-03 season
- Played in 28 of UM's 29 games, starting in 10, including the first nine. Averaged 18.8 minutes, 4.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
- Seven points in 11 minutes of action at Tennessee (2/5).
- Put up a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds (team-leading) in the win over Fordham (2/1).
- Shot 5-6 from the floor and scored 11 in 15 minutes of work at La Salle (1/22), but in a 21-second stretch he committed two turnovers and two fouls, one of which gave La Salle a four-point play.
- Got a start versus Xavier (1/18), chipped in 8 points, 2 boards, 2 assists.
- Missed the Columbia game (1/9), suspended for a violation of team rules.8)
- Against his old team, tallied 9 points, 4 boards, a team-leading 5 assists, and 3 turnovers in #9 UConn's win (12/10).
- Tallied 14 & 4 versus #19 Indiana in the Maui Invitational (11/25).
2001-02 season

Pre-UMass
UConn (1999-2001)
- Sophomore year: Played in 23 of the Huskies' 32 games, picking up 4 starts, but still limited minutes (11.0 per game). Averaged 2.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists.
- Fell out of favor with Coach Calhoun. Suspended after missing a team meeting prior to a game in early February, then for the final six after an arrest for marijuana possession.9)
- Freshman year (1999-2000): Played in 30 of their 35 games, averaging 5.5 minutes, 1.2 points, 1.1 assists, 0.9 rebounds.
- U-Games versus UMass: 12/12/2000, 7 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist in 15 minutes. 11/22/1999, 1 minute played, no contributions.

High School
- A Top 50 recruit who prepped at Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport, Conn., Cox earned Connecticut High School Player of the Year honors as a senior and was a fourth-team Parade Magazine All-American.
- He averaged 18.1 points, 12.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists as a senior when he led Kolbe to a 26-0 record and the Class M title.
- Cox, a two-time first-team all-state pick, ended his career with 1,285 points, 841 rebounds and 587 assists.
