Hofstra upgraded from NCAA Division II to Division I in the 1970s.
Quinis Brower, father of UM's Etienne Brower, was Hofstra Class of 1972, and one of their best-ever rebounders, snaring 26 in one of his senior season games, and 25 in one of his junior's.¹⁾ His 13.9 rpg average in 1971-72 led the team.²⁾
Quinis would have been a high school teammate with Julius Erving, if not for getting cut by coach Ray Wilson.³⁾
Bob McKillop, who went on to coach against UMass at Davidson, was also Hofstra Class of 1972, and their leading free throw shooter in 1971-72.⁴⁾
